Constant replacement of headlight bulbs in '03 Volvo V70 wagon

I have a V70 wagon that goes though headlight low beam bulbs all too frequently. I seem to be replacing them every 3 to 9 months - regardless of the type of brand I use (PIAA, Bosch, Sylvania).

I get the feeling the real problem is something else in the system. Any thoughts on what it is?

I have heard similar complaints from someone who owns an S60 Volvo.

Thanks

I'd replace the light connectors. IPD USA sells them. Or it maybe a case of you touching the bulbs with your fingers. the oil on your hands will shorten the life of the bulbs considerably by the lens getting too hot and cracking.

Check the spade terminals at the rear of the bulbs as they heat up and break down.

Inside the glass lens of my 02 xc v70 the bulb fits inside a suspended metal tube that I didn't even know was there until I looked at it from the side one day and realized I had jammed the bulb on the side of this tube causing a shortened life. I had to stick my finger inside the hole the bulb goes in an straighten the tube before putting another one in...

I have a Volvo and my headlights do not work...I have checked the fuses and the bulbs. What else can i do to fix this? The brights work but no daytime rinning lights or low beams.

Our Volvo's have a headlight switch for manual or automatic - mine is set that the all the lights and fog lamps come on after the car starts. - check the switch to the left of the steering wheel.

Low beam burnt out

The headlight on an 03 baja are a double element bulb for high an low beam. I replaced mine with 9007 bulb from auto parts store. Be careful to pay attention to bulb position, they can be installed up side down having the high beam as your low beam. I would shine the lights up against a wall or garage door and flip your high and low beams on and off to see how the shine.

Headlight low beam

Test to see if you have voltage at the bulb connector in low beam position. I'd almost bet that if there is no voltage there for the low beams that you have a bad high/low switch.

most carsv nowadays are sealed beams meaning you have to replace the whole unit rather than just replacing a bulb i am not sure with the volvo but would assume this is the case

Replace low beam healdlight bulb 2000 v70

Easy.
Check on YouTube... there is a great vid.

Other suggestion:
1. open hood, locate the rubber covering the light bulb assembly.
2. Turn it counterclockwise.. fidget with it to get it right.
3. pop it out.. and replace... clean with a paper towel to keep the oil from your skin off of it.
4. Start car, turn on light.
5. Reassemble.
Hope this helps.
