There is two rubber bungs you need to take them out and get the window down so that you can see the two 10mm bolts that hold the window in slacken them and lift the window up by hand and tape it up,the hole assembly should then come out..

All these components operate via the central locking control unit. Check fuses No.4, 37, 6, 3, 14. If these fuses are ok, the control unit may be faulty and need to be replaced. The control unit is located behind the right dash panel.[on right hand drive vehicle , may be else where on left hand drive vehicle.
Got to have the special tools (or equivalent) to hold down the pulley bolts if it's a VR6. A 2.0l you'll need a timing belt tensioner tool besides the pulley counter holder. And better buy a Bentley official VW repair manual. Buying a Chillton, Hayes or Clymers will make your repair more difficult to understand.
Probably the temp control rethrostat is blown not allowing contact to start the fan or a electrical malfunction along the electrical path. The fuse is on top of the battery along with the rad fan and other high amp demanding appliances in the vehicle.
Thats because the car ecu is program to do that if you want to bypass that , you will need to buy a computer chip and install it ..it will let the car rev to red and give you max speed i belive its max is 160 mph.

TO PUT THE ENGINE IN U WOULD HAVE TO USE THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE VR6 ALL THE WIRING & COMPUTER.U WOULD HAVE TO FABRICATE,HOSES,WIRING,ENGINE MOUNTS.NOT TO MENTION IS THERE ENOUGH ROOM IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
