Check for the fluid level. If it is low add fluid. Check for leaks. If it is not low, have you serviced the transmission every 50,000 miles? If not it is likely you have worn out the clutches in the transmission and it will need replacement.

How do i know if my transmission is slipping

How many miles have you done? Is the trans correctly filled with oil? Why do you think its slipping, when it changes up is there some delay in forward pull from the engine that gives similar symptoms to clutch slip? Its not that old and a well maintained trans that hasn't done much towing should do 150k without problems. Towing heavy trailers kills auto trans.

Trans slips replaced still slips

  • check your "Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor" ECTS, make sure all your connections on the transmission are secured. I would try a bottle of Seafoam, or some Transmission cleaner (as a last resort), or some LubeGard from your auto parts store.
  • There like several types of it, check the website Lubegard.com for the specifices on which one to use. I've heard Transmission guys, swear by this stuff, that it will fix a lot of problems.
But I wouldn't try it on a CVT transmission, or any kind of transmission that has a CVT belt drive system.

Toyota 1996 camry clutch slipping

You have an auto? Or the clutch is slipping in a manual?

If the first, the most likely cause is that your auto trans fluid is low. Check the level with the engine idling, and top it up via the dipstick tube if needed. If that was found to be OK then the trans has an internal problem and you will need to take it to an auto trans mechanic.

If a manual then the clutch is worn and must be replaced. Slippage is the classic sign of that. It cannot be fixed by external adjustments.

Where is the fuse for the tranny it takes off in 3 gear it is a 4 speed auto i blow a fuse or some thing thank you bob

The trans has a built in limp mode if it detects a problem. More than likely there is something else wrong,

Try to reset it first. Turn the vehicle on and off 3 full times and then start it and see if it starts out in first. If you then fell it lurch and go back into limp mode have it scanned to see. It could be the trans computer, a sensor or a hard problem internal to the trans. Hope this helps.

1998 honda passport auto transmission slips

CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO SEE IF IT IS LOW. THERE SHOULD BE A COLD LEVEL AND A HOT LEVEL. WITH THE TRANS IN PARK AND HOT, ENGINE RUNNING PULL THE DIPSTICK TO SEE IF THE TRANS NEEDS FLUID. WHEN ADDING, MAKE SURE THE PROPER FLUID IS USED. IF THE TRANS FLUID LEVEL IS OK BUT THE TRANS FLUID SMELLS BURNED OR IS VERY DARK THEN HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED WITH FLUID AND FILTER. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR ANY COMMENTS. BEST OF LUCK
