Temperture sensor on motor for 1991 Caprice Classic

I am looking for the interior temperture gauge sensor on the motor block, I have found and replaced temp. sensor on the top of intake but still no reading on the interior gauge...went to auto part store and clerk said there was two sensors one that sent reading to the computer and the other sent reading to the interior gauge...I cant locate the second sensor??? I found the one on the upper part of the radiator but different size than the one I purchased from auto part store...double checked sensor to make sure I have the wright sensor and it keeps coming back as the same one??

Bad water pump. The seals are more than likely shot. Usually at higher rpm the temp goes down and at idle it would overheat. Had a friend with the same problem.

Cooling fans on 1994 Caprice classic with 4.3 v8 not coming on. I have replaced the temp sensor on the water pump, temp sensor on the block, all relays, fuses are good, replaced the ecm (engine control...

On a vehicle this age, it is likely that the fans themselves have worn out. Test the fans by running battery power directly to the positive contact. If they start, they are OK. On 4.3 motors, there is also a seperate temp sensor to signal the fans, usually called a fan switch. I believe it operates independent of the ECM. Another possible culprit is a bad ground at the fans or even a loose or corroded negative battery cable.

Coolant temp sensor

Temp sensors are not powered. they are groundind for the gauge. check the sensor if gauge is malfunctioning. Do not put power to sensor wire. You could cause dead short and fry the instrument panel, Good Luck

sometimes there are two temp sensors, one for the gauge inside and one for the engine management. You have possibly replaced the wrong one. Have a look to see if there is another, if so disconnect one and see if gauge drops in car. if it does its the other that needs replaced.

change the speedometer gauge system completely
and if you have those little buttons on the door for the interior light to come on when opened sometimes those stick so spray WD40 around the button and see if that takes care of the problem
