The blower motor in my 2003 hyundai tiburon has stopped working. I thought it was just the switch because it only worked on the high speed, but mechanic says its probably resistor and/or motor.

The burnt wire's ,are they in the connector that plug's to the control switch ? High resistance ,loose fit cause's this . If the motor works on high the switch isn't the problem , The blower motor resistor is . On high the power flow bypasses the blower motor resistor to ground . Do you know what a blower motor resistor is ? The switch just supply's a path to ground through the different resistances to create different speeds. Your switch probably is not bad . But rather then guess use a ohm meter an test it. Do you know what a wiring diagram is ?

Could be anyone of the things you have listed , plus , the blower motor it's self could be bad . There are videos on youtube on how to troubleshoot blower motor circuits . First you need to look at a wiring diagram for the blower motor circuit in your vehicle ! You can find free wiring diagrams at . Enter your vehicle info. year , make , model an year ,plus engine size. Then under system click on HVAC , then under subsystem click on blower motor circuit or something like HVAC controls may pop up on it's own. Click on search , then on the blue link that pop's up. I need to check a fan control switch

Did you check for voltage and ground at the blower motor connector? You may be way ahead of me? Different speeds are controlled on blower motor ground circuit. In the diagram, the top wire at blower motor is voltage and the bottom wire is ground. The diagram may not be what you wanted? Brown is voltage, orange is ground at blower motor. Maybe you can hit control and plus on your key pad to enlarge diagram.

Blower motor and switch

What year , make and model ? Some new vehicles, well 2000 on up have body control modules that use a small amount of current to turn on a relay that turns on the blower motor that has a high amount of current.

I have a 2000 chevy blazer the blower works on 1 2 and 3 but it wont work on 4 I changed the dash switch and the resister but that didn't work

There is a relay in the under hood fuse box , blower motor relay .When switched to high it energizes the relay allowing power from the HVAC fuse /30 amp to flow direct to the blower motor. from pin 30 to pin 87 , if you look on the side of the relay there is a diagram .For all other speeds the current flows from the switch through the resistor through pin 87a to pin 30 on to the blower motor ! Check the HVAC fuse in the under hood fuse block .IF the fuse is good check for continuity between the fuse side with out B+ that means pulling the fuse and using a volt meter to see which side has power and checking the side that doesn't have power to pin 87 at the relay socket ! Probably a bad fuse or stuck relay . Pull that relay and try a different one. You can get wiring diagram at click on technical information ,then click on Technical Service Bulletins & Wiring Diagrams .then on next page go down to the bottom and click on I agree . next page click wiring diagrams ,then just fill in you vehicle information .then HVAC system . click on diagram, then you will see 7 links , click on the 5th one and that's the diagram for the blower motor circuit !

1997 grand prix window won't work

Do you need a new motor

How would someone know that?

You need a wiring diagram or at least
match up the cut wires, solder & heat shrink them

Then diagnose the motor,switches,etc

I buy factory wiring diagrams for all my vehicles
I never approach the vehicle without them
One quick check of what does work, then into
the wiring manual

You can not repair something you know nothing about,
need reference material

Diagram for the placement of the fan blower motor in a 2003 Dodge ram 1500 truck

CAUTION On vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in an accidental airbag deployment, possible personal injury or death.

NOTE The blower motor is located on the passenger side of the vehicle under the instrument panel. The blower motor can be removed from the vehicle without having to remove the HVAC housing.
  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the blower motor.
  3. Remove the three screws that secure the blower motor to the HVAC housing.
  4. Remove the blower motor from the HVAC housing by rotating and tilting the blower motor as needed for clearance.

    To install:
    1. Align and install the blower motor into the HVAC housing.
    2. Install the three screws that secure the blower motor to the HVAC housing. Tighten the screws to 20 inch lbs. (2.2 Nm).
    3. Connect the wire harness connector to the blower motor.
    4. Reconnect the battery negative cable.

Blower motor will not work , changed out switch module, but nothing. Whats next?

In my experiences 9 out of 10 times you will have a damaged wire or bad connection either going to the module or from the module to the blower. with the key and air/heat switch on first wiggle the wires to see if you get anything then you'll know what your problem is. If that doesn't bear any results get a test light and check for power at head unit, both sides of module wiring and at blower itself (you can refer to your vehicle's service manual for wiring diagrams if needed). If you still don't have any luck disconnect wiring from blower motor and run a jumper to make sure blower actually still works. If nothing ultimately works you either need a new wiring harness and/or a new blower motor or a new control unit. Let me know if you how this works out for you I'll try to help further if necessary.
