2004 hyundai elantra starter

I think I may need a new starter. The car won't turn over at all. It is not the battery. I also had trouble putting my car in park from drive. Where is the starter located in a 2004 elantra?

You culd be having more than one problem. First if you are having problem putting the car in park. The car may not actually be fully in park and therefore the neutral safety switch is active and telling to car you are in revers or in gear. If this is true then your car won't start for safety reasons. Try putting it in Neutral and see if it starts then. Ormay have a neutal safety switch that is bad. Can you hear the starter click when you turn the key to start?

I am having the same problem with my 2004 Elantra. I have had the alternator tested twice and did replace the battery. This morning I had it running ad put a volt meter on it ( red to the battery pos black to the engine block) I did get a reading of 14 volts for about 30 seconds then the idle lowered and the voltage dropped to 12 volts. I tried this again later but could not get a voltage reading above 12 volts with the motor running. Any suggestions?

Try running a ground wire from the rad support to either the engine block or directly to the negative post of the battery.Check your harness to see if any loose ground wires didn't get hooked back up during the repair as well.

How to replace 2004 Hyundai Elantra starter

First, disconnect the battery. Then the only part that needs to be removed to access the starter is the rubber air plenum boot between the throttle body and the air filter housing. This allows enough room to get an arm in there to access the 14mm bolts that attach the starter to the transmission. After removing the bolts, the starter can be removed from underneath the car. lower it down as much as possible, and unbolt the power cable. You may have to twist and turn it a bit to get around the support between the engine block and intake manifold, but it will come out.

Hi there, im trying to figure out where my starter is in my 2004 hyundai elantra

The starter motor is located below and back towards the firewall of the thermostat housing, remove airbox to see it. Easiest way to find it would be to follow the large gauge black (negative) wire leading from your battery, down towards the engine. This will connect directly to the starter.

2004 Hyundai Elantra The car turns over but won't start, intermitently. The starter has been checked out and is ok.

dear friend:plse check the battery power as you might have enough to turn the starter, but not enough for the rest of the system.
