Fords in that era are notorious for broken plastic gears in the assembly. If the Speedometer works and the odometer works but the trip odometer does not work, you can still have a broken or stripped plastic gear. They are very small and cost about $25 but they are a pain to replace. You can send your cluster off to have it repaired by a reputable shop. Just Google instrument cluster repair.
I had the same problem with my rendezvous and there is a short term fix which is turn the key till the car gets power for 45 seconds and turn it off. Repeat several times till the gauges read normal. Again this is only a temp fix. I had to have my cluster fixed because you can't go to a junk yard and swap them out because the computer will not recognize the cluster. This means the mileage is incorrect and most dealerships will not reprogram them because of legal issues. To fix the cluster you have to get new motors and attach them to the back making sure you align them correctly or the cluster will display incorrect information. I spent 300 to fix my at a repair shop and gm will charges 850 here. Once the speedometer goes bad then the gas gauge will follow and the temp reader. Hope this works and it is usually easier to have a repair shop send it out and have it rebuilt. Removing the cluster is difficult too you will need to have the car in gear to slid the cluster out, but that's another answer.

kavtrom to reset the clock you use the instrument cluster by navigating the steering wheel multi function keys untill cluster states settings-after you have set the time while the instrument cluster multi function screen is still at the clock settings you have to press the the reset button/dimmer knob on left side of instrument cluster and the clock will go backwards until 9-10 oclock and then will forward itself to the correct time
