Why must I run the defroster so much?

this could be two items that i can think of
1st could be a stopped up cabin air filter , a low air flow would be felt out the vents on blower high setting

2nd sometimes a small hole develops in your heater core allowing a tiny bit of your cars coolant to flow into heat chamber , this gets evaporated by air flow thru heat box and recondenses back inside car , telltale signs are stuffy smell inside car and slight drip of coolant on ground under car as problem persists

heater core replacment is needed to fix this problem

I just replaced the fuel pump in my 2002 Pontiac Montana and I can hear the fuel pump working but the van still will not start. What else could be causing it?

The fuel pump may not have been the problem? You are not getting a spark (ignition) and/or firing due to timing, retardation, plug gaps need setting and cleaning, plug wires may be bad as insulation may crack, peel, split, or water and oil got on the contacts. The there is FLOODING is too much fuel prevents Air from entering the chambers. So many reasons, it needs a technician with test equipment to search for the sources.

My 2000 Montana gauge is showing that's over heating even when it's driven a short distance and when driven on the freeway it's not smelling like its over heating or there no steam coming

If the gas gauge does not work correctly and the temp gauge reads hot, you could have a problem with the instrument panel.
Both gauges get power from the same circuit, but each gauge is grounded by its own sending unit.
If the temp gauge is reading correctly, you could have air in the cooling system and it is not actually full of liquid coolant.

You will need to replace the unit that works the door. Its inside the passenger side cover in the back. But for now just unplug the unit and it will stop making the noise.

There is no coolant pump on the side of the overflow jug. There is a windshield washer pump on the side of the window washer reservoir.

Van began overheating and power steering went out. Van also lost power, was barely able to get it to a parking lot.

Sounds like your serpentine belt either fell off or broke. Check all the pulleys to make sure they rotate. Wiggle the water-pump pulley to see if the bearings are bad. Check the tensioner to make sure it isn't frozen or worn out. If all those check out fine replace the belt and see what happens.

1999 Pontiac Montana DRIVER SIDE mirror attachment broken.

The most inexpensive cure is to replace it entirely. I've gone to dealers to buy small parts & paid more for the small parts than the entire item costs elsewhere.

I didn't of course call & verify the exact price since I can't see the damage so I'm going on years of replacing mirrors others have broken off & asked me to repair.

You can see the part in it's entirety on eBay at a reasonable price for heated & power, see item #
110440973578 priced at 48.00 incl. S&H.

good luck

2000 Pontiac Montana LWB will not start when hot. Engine will crank, but will not fire or will fire but will stall out after 5 seconds. After a 10-15 min. cooling period, engine will start with no...

First with your incorrect fuel reading, you may need to have your fuel level sending unit replaced. Next if your vehicle otherwise runs fine when cold, no sputtering or hesitation if going uphill then I would suggest that your check your vehicle's air intake/induction system Mainly your air filter to see if it is clogged up which would impede air flow into your combustion chamber causing poor throttle response or suffication (not having enough oxygen for your fuel/air mixture to burn. Next I would have a thorough check performed on the emissions systems, also including your o2 sensor and possibly even your catalytic convertor and exhaust system. Start with that and let me know what your results are and I can advise you further if problems persist or worsen.

2001 Montana needs Head Gaskets replaced

i know the shop told you its the head gasket, but it sounds like the water pump is out not the gasket.. because the pump is barely pulling water, thats why the car is hot but no hot air..if rad. is full of coolant, even if it is the head gasket you should still have hot air.... this is a lot cheaper than a head gasket..$100 verse $2000.. i know what sounds bettter to trust me...keith..
