Question about 2001 Volkswagen Passat

Flasher replacement 2001 VW Passat

My turn signals are erratic or don't work at all. Same with flashers. Last time I replaced a flasher on a car, it was a tube-like, plug-in deal that went it under the steering wheel somewhere.

There are a lot of covers under the steering wheel that I don't want to try taking off unless this is something a do-it-yourselfer can do. Where is the flasher assembly and is this something a novice can replace?

Many thanks!

I need to know how to replace the electronic flasher for my turn signals on my 2001 grand am se. My turn signals only work a quarterof the time.

are you sure you don`t have a bulb filament that is making and breaking contact causing the flasher to intermittently work.assuming you mean they either stop flashing or flash faster than normal.when the flashers are working look under the dash and find the flasher unit with it operating.all you have to do is pull the flasher out of its location and install in reverse.i say check with the signals working because the hazard flasher looks the same but is a different unit.

The turn signal fuse may have blown, or The Turn signal/4 way [ tick tock ] relay has failed. Just replace it, and away you go.

How do i change the turn signal flasher on a 99 VW Passat and where is it located?

The flasher is part of the emergency flasher switch on the center dash board. You carefully have to pry out the switch, its just clipped in. It is quite long. I pulled out one of the blanks first so I could get behind and put the unit out. The whole switch/flasher needs to be replaced!

My passenger side turn signal blinks double time, what do i need to do to fix it?

Check that the bulbs are lighting and if they don't replace as needed. If they are fine the turn signal flasher is bad. Replace the flasher and the problem is fixed. If you have to replace the flasher the easy way to find it is turn your turn signal on on listen for the clicking . Find the clicking and you found your flasher.

I have an interesting problem with my 01 Passat. The turn signals are not working, however the hazards are working. Could this be the hazard relay? The high beam on the right side is not working, and today...

The turn signals use one flasher and emergency uses another one. You can exchange the two (usually) for a quick check. The bad one will move to the other system when swapped, emergency flashers now don't work but the turn signals do. If this is the case go get a new flasher and replace it.

BLINKER LIGHTS DON'T WORK

Replace the turn signal flasher. Not sure where located on a vw, most cars it's on the fuse block, under dash.

Check the flasher under the dash to the left of the steering column. It's got about 8 or 10 wires plugged into it.
