Wobble on accelaration above 35 mph

I have a renault megane scenic 1.9dti 1998 with a wobble that seems only to be on acceration ,if you ease off the throttle it gets better and if you dip the clutch it stops ,though it only seems to start at about 35-40 mph.I have had all the wheels balanced .

hi,replaced top engine mount because of a split on it but still have got wobble,at the front.

hi,have changed tyres ,ball joints, wishbone bushes, exhaust flexi on done pipe ,rebuilt gear box cause of worn teeth on diff gear. All making the car feel better and fine tune wobble. At 40mph wobbles on normal throttle them when you accerate from that speed wobble getts worst.till about 50 or until you throttle off.Looking at replacing o/s drive shaft.

Hi, just an up date to say that the wobble has been sorted by replacing the o/s driveshaft.Has been long winded effort to get this sorted as I have been trying to sort it out myself without having to go to the main dealer and costing an arm and a leg.Being a mechanic myself I don't like spending time and money on my own car unless I have to or wife says, ha.ha.

what about the top mounting left hand side, this one can look ok while its resting on support but try lift engine with a small jack with a piece of wood on top (ally sump ) and see if it lifts up ,lift on end of sump under pulley wheel ,sure its an engine mounting causing this. This mounting often appears ok till its lifted a bit then you will see what i mean the top bolt will lift and rubber silent block will remain

Its a bit difficult to recommend a repair when iam sitting in alicante spain, not quite the same as hands on with car in front of me as the same noise can be caused by different things but all sounding the same. This is where 40 yrs of being a bodgy old mechanic comes in handy as quick drive up the road and i know ,thats a wind noise ,crack in seal /bonding or thats a wind noise from A/C outlet drain pipe. This vibration is a worn uj on prop or thats a deformed tyre .that oil leak is the ball bearing seal in back of oil gallery and so on .os drive shaft ??LHD car is a big possibilty as its the longest one with the most whip and its a chance the balance weight has come adrift or rusted off.You say new tyres but what make ??still check them out though as sun can deform them pretty quick here on the med and i have have had tyres made in poland or rumania that caused the exact problem you describe. As for gears worn on diff ??yes had this on older cars from the 50s but modern cars not really, but crownwheel can be moved over a bit to compensate for a bit of wear, also if car starts missing and cutting out then so iam told as i couldnt find the fault but their is two sensors on pedals and if they play up then you have to change the whole pedal cage.Well as for reading the software on a renault???and the dammed key codes.older models i have sussed and i can by-pass the factory immobiliser but the new ones with encrypted software, iam no bill gates, iam a big hammer and if that doesnt work an evan bigger hammer mechanic. When i studied motor vehicle technicians exams we were taught how to white metal big end bearings not put a plug in and reckon you know it all .Well better get out and start playing with an ice cream van i making up for someone ,,,,,,,,but its the paperwork here in spain not the actual job as iam not allowed to drill a hole in body to hold anything, not with paying around 6000€ for some **** to sit on his **** and draw a picture and put a rubber stamp on it and charge silly money for it.So iam mounting it all on a frame and lift the whole lot out for the mechanical inspection with a forklift then put it all back in again, but iam not allowed to connect the ice cream machine to the engine to make it work,as this needs a special certificate from vehicle manufacturer to cut a hole in bodywork .ect ect .Only wish i had this sort of trade protection when i lived in the UK i would have a new jag and fancy house with nice young dolly bird in tow ,and all i have to do is sign a bit of paper and put a rubber stamp on it to pay for it all.

Now this may appear stupid, and iam well known for doing un-orthodox repairs but if it saves money??.jack car up and look at tyres yes i know you said they have been balanced but what about deformaties spin wheel and look for tread going up and down, look for splitting between the tread, and around the wheel rim.look for a carbunkle /bulge ,does steering wheel move slightly at low speed with rotation of wheels??..Only wish computer was as easy to repair ,just had to re-install windows yet again some dammed trojan stopped firewall ,avg antivirus, spybot and took over computer .then all i got was **** sites and antispyware 2009 all over screen and lot of messages in german.

Zigzag light on megane scenic dashboard comes on car revs high then low usually stalls then coming to a stop. 1998 renault megane scenic rt manual. thanks

this exact problem on a megane coupe is caused by a small air pipe that connects to a 2 inch wide black box that is located under the bonnet near the windscreen on the passangers side. the zigzag light indicates an electrical fault (in this case lack of compression and will affect your revs) if you find this pipe and it has snapped off. the reason for this may be that your engien is lose and moves. grab the engien with 2 hands and see if you can wobble it with allot of play. if so your engien mountings need replaceing. you may also experiance juddering in low gears

Renault megane scenic 1.9 dt r reg 1997 cold start problems

This being a diesel, lack of compression is your worst enemy. These symptoms sound like a blown head gasket. Check your coolant for signs of oil, and check your oil for signs of coolant. (oil will be milky looking) Also indicative of a head gasket problem is an oil or coolant leak from the engine as well. If you see no evidence of the above, have a compression test done, and it should show up.

Either the replacement sensor the windscreen technician should have fitted isnt connected properly to the glass or it has developed an intermittant fault - quite common with Renaults especially megane scenics and grand scenics....

You probably have a broken speedometer cable. Was the needle wagging back and forth and making strange noises periodically before it quit working?
