Re: no start freelander
F4 is a generic fault with the gearbox. The specific reason would need to be read with a fault code reader. Try turning the ignition on and off 4 or 5 times to see if it will clear. You will need to get it looked at.

The Freelander, along with all Land Rovers are permanently in 4 wheel drive: You need to take the car to a workshop to see what is happening. Freelanders have big problems with the transfer box, this maybe the problem. When you reverse the car and put the car steering to full lock whilst reversing, do you feel that the car is blocking or binding, as though you have the brakes on. If so this is an indication that the transfer box is faulty. These boxes cannot be repaired, replacement only and are quite expensive.
