Question about 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis

1 Answer

No heat The blower works but it blows cold air. I changed the thermostat to no avail. The heater hoses and radiator hoses are hot. The door behind the glovebox is opening and closing when you switch from heat to a/c. The vacuum selector control under the dash near the gas pedal seems to be working properly also. I'm stumped.

If the heater hoses are hot on both sides(indicating the engine is at full temp) and you feel the heat controller in dash is working properly, i would suggest disconnecting both heater hoses and backflush heater core with decent amount of pressure. if this improves condition but does not solve completely, heater core replacement is necessary.

Need help.. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton truck.. heater will not get hot.. changed the thermostat..had the radiator flushed.. checked heater coil (sp).. checked the air conditioner flapper door to see...

1 check,Feel the heater hoses,do they get hot ,both or one? They should be hot,if not flush the heater core directly with a hose, back and forth at each hose connection.
2nd check, clamp off the top rad hose and force the hot water through the heater and check heat output. If there is heat with top rad hose clamped change the thermostat,it's either leaking or defective, new or not.

The truck 2005 ford 350 the heat is not working is blowing cold air

Check for correct coolant mixture. Also you could have a thermostat that is stuck completely open causing it to flow straight threw the engine block, cylinder heads, heater core, an radiator without stopping long enough to heat the coolant up to provide cab heat. It could also be a clogged heater core. Or a blend door on the HVAC box that is not allowing the heater core door to open. Hope this helps.

My truck is blowing cold air out the back vents and after about a minute of driving, the front air conditioner starts slowly blowing heat until if feels like the heater is full blast.....people have said...

There are a couple of different things that could cause the loss of heat. First make sure your radiator and overflow tank are full and at there specified levels. Run the engine till it reaches operating temperature( between 180 and 220 degrees). Feel the upper radiator hose and lover radiator hose , they should both be HOT , this lets you know your thermostat is working. If the top hose is hot and lower hose is cold. Replace the thermostat. If they are hot, check to see if both heater core hoses are hot ( 2 5/8 in black hoses heading into the firewall). If one side is hot and one side is cold, replace the heater core. If both are hot, you may have a broken cable or vacuum diaphragm that moves the direction control valve from hot to cold. Below are some example diagrams to help aid you in your diagnosis.

My is heat is not work?My car is blowing cold air instead of hot air, I have a brand new heater core, the thermostat is not sticking,I got anti-freeze in it,It's getting cold in I need heat. Please help me

first feel the heater core hoses see if both are hot if so then your problem is in the blend air door must be stuck on cold. is your blower motor blowing cold air if not your blower motor might be the problem. the blend air door is down by the blower motor.

Heater blows cold but tem gauges reads hot

When engine is hot is the top radiator hose hot also ?
If not install new 195 degree thermostat. Is the blower air hot now ?
If not the heat door may not be opening, or you could have a blown heat gasket.
