Remove the sensor then connect a multimeter on millivolts setting and then in rapid sucession pass a spanner over the head part and you should see a voltage .Yes i know you can check the resistance and the continuety without taking it off the engine But from experiance this doesnt always tell you if its actually working

1997 montero sr 3.5 L 4wd The truck has no acceleration. Slow start until 40 mph.

Check the cam position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor for loose connections or possibly a bad sensor. Run a diagnostic test to give you a better idea of which parts are faulty.

What is the fuel pressure suppose to be on a 1990 mitsubshi montero sport

Difficult question to answer directly. There's a pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail that's set to around 35 psi. The fuel pump can deliver more than this of course, but the regulator is there to return excess pressure to the tank. Perhaps your problem is the fuel pump or the MPI relay which is usually behind the center console.

Mitsubshi occasionally will not start

When you say won't start... will it not turn over or will it turn over but not start. If it is cranking but no start I'd say the ECU is beginning to fail (very common in early 90's Mitsubishi's) If need be there is a way you can check the ECU for codes with a standard analog multimeter. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Tom

Over heating problem

Try flushing the radiator and see it that helps. If not try replacing the vented cap on the radiator

Low Idle and O2 sensor replacement on Montero

The O2 sensor is mounted to the exhaust; you'll need to get under the truck (jack-stand please) to locate. If it sits where a 89-92 sits it will be in the exhaust under the passenger side. Follow the wiring, on most it carries over the transmission to a wiring block under the driver's sie of the truck (again this is all under the truck) As for the low idle I do not believe there is anything to be change. If the idle is low it is due to other conditions... injectors, sensor, low compression, timing or such.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
