Revs to high

I have a ford focus 1.8L V reg. when coming to a junction with the clutch down the revs will pick to about 1800 revs then drop back down to normal. The revs also jump up about 150 revs when the clutch is down and changing gear.

Yes it is the clutch slipping, in high gear the greatest load is put on the clutch so that is when they slip the most.

Hi I have a V reg Ford Focus 1.8, when i accelerate my rev counter goes really high, the car becomes sluggish. This happens when i also change gear at any speed. It is like i am driving with the clutch...

Hi, it is likely your clutch is slipping, perhaps because it has worn out or the springs have softened from heat. I'm afraid you will need a new clutch. :o(

2003 ford focus rpm runs high when clutch is engaged

since this is a standard and you need to engage the clutch which basically shifts you into neutral to shift gears, this ALMOST sounds like the idle air control valve.
