Question about 2005 Dodge Ram 3500

Can not figure out how to install serpentine belt

Have 2005 dodge ram 3500 diesel and can not figure out how to get the belt around the fan blade, because of the tube in front of blade, or am i missing something. Any help would be great.

The tube in front of the fan should not stop you from getting the belt on put it over one fan blade at a time

Open the car hood look at the top of the brace that is in front of the fan shroud there you will find a picture showing you how to install the fan belt.

Routing serpentine belt 2006 dodge diesel 4x4


going clockwise starting on the passenger side of truck
1 over the alternator pulley
2 under the water pump pulley
3 over the idler pulley
4 over the power steering pulley
5 over radiator fan pulley
6 over crankshaft pulley
7 automatic tensioner
8 over a/c if equiped

check the hood or the frame rail around the engine bay. there should be a diagram.

Need a diagram for fan belt or serpentine belt


Here is a diagram for a 5.7L Hemi, and 1 for a 5.9L diesel. Hope this helps!

get the belt routing from the local dealer.
they will not charge alot of money for a reprint from the factory service manual.
also
dayco belts come with the belt routing on the box.

Need serpentine belt diagram for Dodge Ram 3500 diesel truck


no you should be able to do it There should be a routing label on the underside of hood or on the radiator support/ Its should not be very hard if you have one already just loosen the Alternator it will slide down get the other one ready look to see the way its routed then slide the new one and tighten up the alternator thats it/ Please rate my response thank you very much

  1. Generator Pulley (1)
  2. Water Pump Pulley (2)
  3. Idler Pulley (3)
  4. Power Steering Pump Pulley (4)
  5. Radiator Fan Pulley (5)
  6. Crankshaft Pulley (6)
  7. Automatic Tensioner (7)
  8. A/C Compressor Pump Pulley (8)
CAUTION: When installing the accessory drive belt, the belt must be routed correctly. If not, engine may overheat due to water pump rotating in wrong direction. Refer to or for correct engine belt routing. The correct belt with correct length must be used.
1. Position drive belt over all pulleys except water pump pulley. 2. Attach a 1/2 inch ratchet to tensioner.

3. Rotate ratchet and belt tensioner clockwise. Place belt over water pump pulley. Let tensioner rotate back into place. Remove ratchet. Be sure belt is properly seated on all pulleys.
