This morning I went out to start the car and the engine would turn over, but it would not start. It has fuel in it and the battery is strong. I am not familiar with fuel injection so I don't know where to start troubleshooting.
-   I'm having the same problem, the engine turns over with the help of a new battery, but does not start. I suspect the ignitor or coil.....also the weather has been in the 20's and 30's, anyone have any ideas. Thanks, Mike
-   My 1992 Subaru Legacy occasionally won't start. It starts fine 362 out of 365 times or so. This has been happening every winter for at least 6 years. It cranks fine (till I run the battery down) and only sometimes fires. This never has happened if the engine is warm (has been run in the last few hours). Ambient air temperature is always 50 degrees or less but often will start at 10 degrees or lower. I have never done anything to make it start other than run the battery down, get a jump, and then crank for a long time. Occasionally if I wait 20 minutes to 8 hours it will start fine when I come back to it, but usually I will have to continue to crank off and on for maybe half an hour to an hour. After cranking for a while I smell gas. Before it starts it will start to fire more regularly, and when it starts it runs a bit rough, maybe because of all the gas in the system. I have replaced the cam angle position sensor and coil.

You can start by checking the fuel pump and testing it for current but it may also be in the starting system so check to see if the starting solenoid is working properly.

1995 Legacy, Starts good but idles for about three min then dies. Starts right up again when ignition turned. Had a problem in the past with O2 censors. Trouble started after being smogged.
