1995 buick... steadily misses..

Wifes car was puttering. replaced spark plugs and didn't fix the problem.. changed spark plug wires and still didn't fix the problem.. took off control modual and had it tested. was bad so i replaced it.. now it doesn't putter until its in overdrive around 55-60mph. my next guess is ignition coils.. theres three coils (one per two cylinders) and people say you cant test them.. can i just buy one and hook it up to each individual sequince of cylinders or would all of the coils be bad.. or maybe you think it might be something else.. i sure would appriciate any help..

thanks
jon

I changed the center coil after finding the plugs fouled from that coil, but have the same poor noise on acceleration....thinking something to do withthe supercharger bypass since it idles and revs great. Oh, I paid $23 this summer at Advance Auto for 1 coil.

Just went through the same thing - change out the coil packs, one at a time. Coil packs run $30 - 50.

Engine putters and has no power uphill, sounds like a miss, just replaced plugs and wires, its worse in the rain. any ideas?

If this happened after replacing Spark Plugs and Wires, you connected some wires in the wrong plug. If this happened before changing plugs and wires, you need to replace distributor cap and rotor as well. Note: Rain shouldn't make any difference unless electric system is exposed to water.

I changed the spark plugs in my 2002 buick rendevous now it missing. i checked the vacuum hoses all was ok.wat else could cause this problem

You have an "Engine Miss" and even after replacing spark plugs, wires, upper and lower manifold gaskets, and push rods, the Engine Miss still remains. You may want to stop and run a compression test. This test will give you a base line. If one cylinder has low compression, you won't get rid of the miss until that is fixed. Please write back with all the specific information regarding tests, all symptoms (is the engine light on and if so what are the codes?). The more tests that you perform the more you will know and will narrow down your search. All types of things will cause a miss. Take a look at the spark plugs and wires, just because they are new doesn't mean that they are not defective, also check the EGR valve, 02 sensors and exhaust back pressure, clogged filters (fuel&air), defective coil, TPS sensor, PVC valve, or timing. Please let me know if I can help you some more, good luck.

Engine misses when going uphill

If you have not replaced the spark plugs this year, I would start with that.
When the engine is working harder a minor problem will be amplified such as a faulty spark plug or wire.
You'll have to figure out if it is a spark or fuel problem to proceed.

1995 BUICK CENTURY SPARK PLUG WIRE REPLACMENT

the best method is one at a time.pull the wire by the boot and remove.then remove other end in same fashion. measure the length of the old wire the the replacement and install making sure that the boots are well seated, you will normally hear a click or feel the boot seat.continue in this fashion until all wires are replaced, then proceed to change plugs one by one making sure that the air gap is to specifications.
do not overtighten plugs ,snug is fine.

How do you change the spark plugs in my 95 buick century ?

Use a spark plug socket wrench, remove the plug wire, unscrew the old spark plug, screw in the new spark plug, and re-connect the plug wire. Do 1 at a time

Replacing spark plug wires on 1995 Buick Riviera

You need to drain some coolant. Loosen and disconnect water lines by the firewall- the ones in the way of your wire change. u need to get a diagram of the firing order of the engine so that those wires are correctly connected to the coil packs.
