Question about 2000 Dodge Durango

Need to know what EBL stands for?

We took a fuse out of our 2000 Dodge durango because we found that it was the electrical short causing our battery to drain. When we took it out it says power seats and EBL. What does EBL mean.

As an owner of a dodge durango I've understood that the durango is probably not the rig to have. It's problem after problem after problem. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me no one else would.

Something is draining the battery

There are a few things that I am sure you are aware of that do produce a draw as in stereo memory etc. How fast does a fully charged battery draw down? Are you aware of procedure of how to test for draw by pulling fuses?

I have a 2000 dodge durango 5.2 v8. The battery and the alternator are brand new but the amps still wont keep a charge? Can you tell me whats wrong and the steps for me to fix it?

Hi, first check voltage at the battery with the engine running. If it's less than 14 volts DC, you may have a bad charge wire of a burned fuse. If it's more than 14 volts, there is probably a draw in the truck that is draining the battery. If you have a meter or at least a test light, you can troubleshoot to the fuse circuit and then look for the problem component. This requires a few electrical skills.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5925550-dead_battery_troubleshooting . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Have you checked the automatic tensioner? It sounds like your belt may be slipping, causing the alternator to not charge the battery as quickly as it needs to, which puts a lot of strain on a battery.

I would have the automatic tensioner checked and replaced, and install a new belt.

Electric draw 6 plus amps

You have to identify which circut is the draw on. with a volt ohm meter set to mA setting you measure the the draw. remove the positive battery terminal and put the meter in series. if you have more than a 26mA draw you statr pulling fuses under thehood to identify the circuit. once the problem circuit is found find what component on the circuit is causing the draw. Good luck
