Question about 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE
You can clean the switch without having to replace it. I had the same problem and for about $10 worth of cleaner, grease, and cotton swabs I fixed it. Check this website for very detail cleaning instructions and pictures. You have to register as a user to get the pictures.

I have an '02 Grand Am, same problem.. random blinker noise when neither the blinker or the 4-ways are on... was originally told it was the relay switch behind the hazards button.. nope not it.. finally have had enough of this noise and brought it to a dealer today... its a switch in the turn signal.. cost about 150 bux for the part ... plus labor, not gonna be a cheap fix seeing as how they have to take the steering column apart but i think its worth it because i cant take the damn noise anymore! The mechanic said it's a very common thing in Grand Am's
