Try locking and unlocking the doors with the key....both frot doors are equipped with disarm switches...if that dont do it then you will need to find a reputable garage or dealer to help you

2006 dodge dakota - everything lights up but starter wont engage to start engine.

Could be the immobiliser isn't disarming...

I suggest you try to energise the starter solenoid manually and if the engine cranks possible faults are immobiliser, ignition/starter switch, relay, connections, wiring.

If the engine doesn't crank the fault is the starter or solenoid or connections to the battery or starter.

Tip

I removed the battery and now the car won't start

'I disconnected the car battery/changed the car battery and now my car won't start'

Another common question on Fixya.
You've done nothing wrong. It's simply that the immobiliser doesn't recognise the key.

Put the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition on. Press the LOCK button twice on your remote. Wait 1 minute.

Turn the ignition off and press the UNLOCK button on the remote a couple of times. This will disarm the immobiliser.

The key should be recognised and your vehicle will start.

Immobiliser

Another sob story.. J/k, if your comfortable with wiring schematics you could try a website like autozone.com and check the repair guides section. Although you may need to take it to the dealer to have this module disabled add it may require some reprogramming of the PCM

The immobiliser can be disarmed by entering the 4 digit code in the owners handbook, but unfortunately the immobiliser can only be programmed when connected up to diagnostic equipment.

Wont start

Hi
Had a similar problem with my x type 2.5 petrol, only had the car 1 day went to start it nothing happend all the lights came up on the dash but the engine wouldn't start and the immobiliser light stayed on. Spoke to Jaguar they had no idea and I couldn't get it to them. After disconnecting the battery trying to reset the immobiliser phoned and auto locksmith they came out and discovered the end of the key with the blade had lost it's coding and the immobiliser was not disarming, they reprogrammed the key and the car started no problem. As far as i know there is no way past the immobiliser. Hope this helps.
