Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier
Can I fix or does it need professional fixen?
I have had the same problem with both my passenger window and driver side window on my 2004 cavalier. It didn't happen at the same time, but I needed a new motor for both windows which ran about $150 for each motor.

So here's the deal... I took it into one of the many garages around my town-- recommended by a friend- and they replaced the window motor w/an "after market" motor. Well omg it sounds like a freaking chain saw when I roll it up or down now! I took it back and they said "you'll have that w/an after market motor" I told them it wasn't like that when it WAS BROKEN so they will fix it or I want my money back- and now SUPRISE SUPRISE it's my "regulator". Because my window has a gap between the inside door panel and it. I can fit my fingers in there- they tried saying it was normal-- ppfftt yeah right- i may be a girl but i'm not an idiot! That's when they said it's the regulator that needs to be replaced and it will make it quiet and sit right... seriously I need a mechanic that isn't going to screw me over!? So the solution was-- I needed a new window motor on the drivers side! BUT be aware of who you take it to and make sure they know what they're doing or they will end up bending or breaking your regulator and then charge you for that too!! ugh! (I was told if you try to yank your window up or down it will ruin the regulator--- I NEVER did this since when I did in my old car w/out power windows the window fell off the track and BROKE!) *sorry for the rant people*
It was the window motor! Cost me about 30 bucks for the part and about 60 for labor...
