My cavalier is a 2004 and my Driver side power window would not go up. I removed the block that holds the window controls (in the middle by the shifter) and wiggled the wires and I got it to go up. But now it won't go down either. It sounds like it's trying to go but it doesn't move. Someone told me I need a new power window relay switch.($68) But why would my passenger window work just fine?!

I took it to a shop and they told me it wasn't broken and it was working fine... so I tried it-- stupid me-- rolled the window down when it was 20 degrees outside and the window wouldn't roll back up. If I let it sit for a bit it will roll back up but it seems like it needs to take a break before it rolls back up. So now it is working randomly. So the motor would cause this only on one window? Wonder how many others have this problem with cavaliers?!

The same thing happend to all 4 of my windows and I was quoted $250.00 per window. Another mechanic said it's probsbly the wires in my console (kids spilled a soda, became sticky...).

The same thing happened to all 4 of my windows. I was quoted $250.00 for each motor in the windows. Another mechanic said it was because my son spilled his soda and some of it made the buttons sticky..

I have had the same problem with both my passenger window and driver side window on my 2004 cavalier. It didn't happen at the same time, but I needed a new motor for both windows which ran about $150 for each motor.

So here's the deal... I took it into one of the many garages around my town-- recommended by a friend- and they replaced the window motor w/an "after market" motor. Well omg it sounds like a freaking chain saw when I roll it up or down now! I took it back and they said "you'll have that w/an after market motor" I told them it wasn't like that when it WAS BROKEN so they will fix it or I want my money back- and now SUPRISE SUPRISE it's my "regulator". Because my window has a gap between the inside door panel and it. I can fit my fingers in there- they tried saying it was normal-- ppfftt yeah right- i may be a girl but i'm not an idiot! That's when they said it's the regulator that needs to be replaced and it will make it quiet and sit right... seriously I need a mechanic that isn't going to screw me over!? So the solution was-- I needed a new window motor on the drivers side! BUT be aware of who you take it to and make sure they know what they're doing or they will end up bending or breaking your regulator and then charge you for that too!! ugh! (I was told if you try to yank your window up or down it will ruin the regulator--- I NEVER did this since when I did in my old car w/out power windows the window fell off the track and BROKE!) *sorry for the rant people*

It was the window motor! Cost me about 30 bucks for the part and about 60 for labor...

2003 Buick Rendezvous All 4 power windows stopped operating could it be a fuse? Something I can possibly do without professional service assistance?

Sounds definitly like a fuse or a relay. If you have owners Manuel it will point out which fuse/ relay to replace. Remember, if a fuse blows there's a reason for it that needs to be remedied

How do i go about fixen my cruise control were is that fuse located? or how do i go about fixen it an also my horn?

If you lost your cruise and horn at the same time, remove your steering column covers and inspect the clockspring harness wires to column connector, I've seen these break here, also failed clockspring. repair or replac eas needed. GOOD LUCK. RDJRP

How do you fix a power window

It sounds like the window fell off its track, or the scissor lift mechanism lost a screw. You will need to take your door panel off to determine the exact cause. Check to see if the glass broke and let me know. Often times you can fix your problem with a new nut and bolt for about 50 cents, or you may just need to re-seat your window. If you are not comfortable taking your door panel off, I would recommend bringing it to a mechanic, but expect a bill around $100 for a simple fix.

This happens on my '99 Malibu, too. No one I've talked to seems to know how to fix it, or they'll insist I take it to a Chevy stealership to get it fixed.
