I agree with what you have been told. Its most likely either the distributor or ignition module. Unfortunately, unless you have the equipment youll have to take it in to a mechanic.
Thanks. I was just told it could be a crank sensor so I'm going to try that 1st because its cheaper. Could it be that also?
Yes its definitely a possibility
Ill try it but can't fund where its located! Do you know where it is?
I know that it is part of the distributor (1.6 engine), but I am not 100% sure of the location within the engine itself.
Thanks! Mine is a 1.8 engine. Ill try to find it tomorrow!
Your so welcome! :)

SOURCE: 91 geo storm gsi, car will crank over but won't
ck the timing belt open up the oil cop see if the valves are moveing crank it over if it cranks over fast its a timing belt
SOURCE: engine code 14 ignition signal and code 26 rich
I would start by replacing the primary ignition system, cap, rotors, wires, you can't just check these items they could be defective where you are unable to see.a rich condition can be caused by a mis fire from a wire,a bad tps,or 02 sensor, but I would always start with the basics and not overlook them,if you need any more help let me know.
TIM.................
I will enclose a wiring diagram to help you in checking the wiring.
Code 14 is ignition signal circuit , No ignition signal. Here are a few things to check.1} check for 5 volts signal from the ecm.2}verifies 0.10- 2.0 volt signal from (ecm) engine control module)3}check for power to distributor.4}check for open in black/orange wire between junction block no.1 and distributor or for a faulty junction block no.15}check for opens in power wire to Igniter. or a faulty ignition coil or Igniter6}check for open in red/black or black/orange wires to ignition switch and a faulty ignition switch
This problem may be a bad wire or bad ignition switch. the igniter may be bad but not to often do i see an igniter go bad. Most of the time its due to a bad ignition switch due to internal problem or bad wire connection at ignition switch. also check the wiring to distributor and to igniter.
The wiring diagram will help. hope this is helpful. good day.
