Question about 1999 GMC Sierra

Check for fuel pressure

I have purchased a fuel pressure kit but do not have a repair/service book. I would like to know if I can get an idea of where the fuel port might be located to attach the fuel pressure gauge to check for pressure?

Follow your fuel rail from tank to engine.it will look like a big valve stem cap.i think its blue take it off and push down on the pin inside while motor is off.do it easy and if it smells like fuel it should be it.or go to auto zone and they will check it.

I need to check the fuel pressure in my 1992 Chevy 1500 4 wheel drive 5.7 350. I know to do it at the inline fuel filter I just don't know what kind of pressure Guage I need to do it with.

I bought a fuel pressure gauge that has an adaptor kit to check fuel pressure right from the hose that goes to the filter. Any auto parts store should have one.

1988 Olds cutlass Cierra will not start after you shut it off

When the failure occurs what do you lose, Fuel or Spark? A few ideas come to mind, the distributor, oil sending unit, or a fault at or inside the fuse-box. Your description is very detailed and it looks like you have invested some time into this repair. Hang in there, you a narrowing down your search with each inspection and repair. Write back anytime, good luck.

Mb 140 d van 2000 has a blown head gasget wondering how to go about repairing

This is not a small job by any means and should not be attempted by anyone that is not a proficient mechanic.
If you were to attempt it at home, I would seriously recommend purchasing a service manual for your vehicle to aide you.
Typically it would involve purchasing a timing kit, waterpump, thermostat, complete head gasket set, and lots of brake clean spray. Follow the book instructions to remove the cylinder head. Once the head is out, you should send it to a machinist in order to have the head checked and insure that it will be reusable. The machinist will take your vehicle information and use his/her sources to machine your cylinder head to precise specifications.
While that is happening, I would suggest cleaning around the engine bay, and using some brake cleaner to clean grime out of the intake manifold and off of the fuel injectors. Replacing the fuel filter and this point would be beneficial.
After you receive your head from the machine shop, just reassemble to book instruction. Install the new water pump, thermostat, timing kit, gaskets, seals, and any parts you notice are missing or broken.
Your vehicle should run very nicely after this, especially if you compliment it with fresh spark plugs, and ignition bits.
Goodluck.

My 92 double cab mazda b 2600wont run unless you pore gas into inlet manifold. any one have an idea . the motor is injected

This sounds like your electronic fuel pump is bad.Check fuel pressure by purchasing a inexpensive kit around 10 to 15 dollars. Disconnect fuel line by the fuel rail. Install your tester. It should read around 30 psi. Also check filter element.

My 2003 lincoln navigator service engine just turn on and i don't know what to do. it does't do anything wrong but it worries me, i check the water level, oil level and the fuel cap but everything is fine.

The only way to know what brought the light on is to hook up a code reader and then go to the book. You should price this action out,it may be cheaper in the long run to purchase your own then to take it to a repair shop, and, they all come with instructions and a book of codes.

Have a 96 cavalier that when start don't seem to have gas.... tank is 3/4 full car stalls...wait about 15 mins car will start.

Replace the fuel filter, it's mounted above the rear axle bar, then check the fuel pressure. The pressure should be 18 lbs. and not waiver at all. You will need to purchase a kit to check the pressure on those cars because there is no port and you can not cut the fuel lines to install one -or- take it to a garage and have them monitor the fuel pressure. Fuel pressure loss is usually the pump quitting and slowing or stopping, fuel pressure that is unstable or incorrect is the fuel pressure regulator located on top of the TBI unit and easily replaced.

How often do i need to get a tune up and what parts do i need to buy for the tune up?

once or twice a year is good for an actual tune up which is new fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, & antifreeze.
About every other year, you should replace tranny fluid and filter. Not bad idea to have coolant and tranny flushed every 2-3 years too.
