My speedometer reads 120mph or what ever number it wants to when at a stop. It is also adding miles to the odometer. The AC is set to full auto.

Yo, i finally figured out the speedo jumping problem. i took my towncar to a shop and they told me it needed a new instrument cluster, they replaced that and still the same problem. they narrowed it down to some bunk diodes or something in the alternator. replaced the alternator at Schumacher Goodyear and the price was 275. had all the speed sensors checked and they were fine as well. also this website is very helpful for do it urselfers.

also for the EATC (electronic automated temp control) there is a on board diagnostics test that you can run to test the shiz. follow these steps and get the code and find whats wrong.

Your AC problem is the ATC Head. (ATC -Automatic Temperature Control)  The unit that you use to set the climate control in your car. That part needs replacement.  You can buy one from the dealer "NEW" for around $500 US.  Or you can go to eBay and get one for around $35 US.  Replacing that will remedy your AC blower problem and your fan speeds should work again.

My 1995 c280 Mercedes-Benz can not run beyond 120 speedometer, once I try to go beyond 120 speedometer it will start cutting fire pls can anyone help me

Cars produced in Germany are electronically speed limited to about 150 mph. This is embedded in the software. If there are no other problems with the engine, fuel or transmission it is possible the management system has been remapped and the speed limiter has been reset to 120 mph.

99 ford Taurus won't go over 35-40 mph, however speedometer reads 120 mph from start. Tranny seems fine and no check lights whatsoever.

Scan the vehicle for fault codes first. Sounds like you need to check the vehicle speed sensor signal into the speedometer. If that is ok then send the speedo head out for repair.

Colorado speedometer reads high according to GPS

Find one of those radar displays that sit on the roadside and tell you how fast you're going. Most likely your GPS is the one that's off, because it has to average and estimate your speed, wheras the vehicle's speedometer should be good from the factory.

Speedometer not working

my speedometer will work every now and then but most the time it will read all the way up to 120 mph or stay at the wrong speed its not the speedometer or the dashboard cluster that's been checked out its a 2007 Pontiac Torrent FWD 5 speed transmission and it runs great. What do you think it could be?

1997 Buick LeSabre speedometer, eratic operation reads faster than speed actually going, analog electronic unit. How do I repair and access it.

A reliable fix would be to send the cluster out for repair, if in fact the problem lies in the speedo head. There is a bulletin for this car that states that at 20mph the speedo can be + or - 4 mph inaccurate, and its normal operation.
I suggest first having the alternator tested. The VSS on this car produces an AC voltage signal. The alternator also produces AC voltage, which is converted to DC before it is output to the cars electrical system. If any AC voltage is leaking from the alternator, it can interfere with the VSS signal, and cause the speedo to read higher, or even show that the car is moving when sitting still.
