disregard the oil pump and pick-up because if there were problems there you would not have oil pressure at all
explain the term "pecking" and when it is occurring. Under acceleration ,at idle , driving normal, at speed.
Did you change your Mass Air Flow Sensor? Your air filter? Idle Air Control Valve? This sounds like you are having an air issue. Meaning that your vehicle is not being aloud to breath properly.
Sounds like a cloggoed oil pump screen or a bad oil pump. I would flush the engine with engine oil fluch (can be purchased at any local parts store) change the oil and filter and see if the problem goes away. If not, you may need to invest in replacing the oil pump to prevent serious engine damage. Good luck
I would go down to your local auto parts store and do an alternator and battery test. It sounds like at low rpms you are loosing volts. When you apply the brakes you would be supprised how much power from the engine it takes. You could also be loosing oil pressure. Check your oil level. When your engine drops low rpm, the oil pressure drops and shuts down the engine.
could be yur water pump going do you leak anti freeze or oil? also if a older model could be ot of timeing check your distributor cap and see if its loose good luck
The oil pump can be changed without pulling the engine.
The impressive looking thing is the balance shaft assembly. These counter-rotating shafts balance out the inherent vibration of the engine. You can remove it, as long as you do not disrupt the gear placements relationship to each other. The balance assembly is set to a specific point.
