In my 2007 Saturn Vue there is what I think is an air pump which is cracked that one port is not connected to anything.

There is a electric motor that pumps washer fluid . Located in the bottom of the washer fluid tank .
Wash Operation (Front and Rear Wipers)
The front and rear washer systems use the same windshield washer fluid pump. When either the front or rear wiper is in the washer position voltage will be supplied to one side of the windshield washer fluid pump (depending on whether it is front or rear), while the other side of the pump is grounded.
At this point, the windshield washer fluid pump sprays solvent onto the windshield. When the front or rear washer is activated, the BCM receives an input from the switch that is activated. The BCM will control the wipers while in the WASH mode. The BCM will control either the front wiper relay or the rear wiper relay to turn on the wipers. The windshield wipers operate at low speed for 3 swipes and returns to the park position.

When turning on the washers do you hear the motor run ? Have some one try it while you listen at the washer fluid tank ! These pump motors do go bad .
turn OFF the ignition.
Disconnect the harness electrical connector of the windshield washer fluid pump.
Connect a test lamp from the windshield washer pump control circuit to a good ground .
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Press the front washer switch.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
YES or NO !

Both windshield wipers come on when making turns only shut back off after several minutes or turning off the engine. What could be the problem?

Replace the turn signal switch. This is the only thing that will operate the wipers and washer at the same time.

Windshield washer fluid quit working on my 2011 Freightliner Cascadia

There's a few things you might want to check. First, check to make sure the washer fluid reservoir is completely (assuming you hadn't already done that). After you are certain the reservoir is full, look for any possible leaks...either the reservoir or the hoses going from the tank to the windshield. If the tank and hoses are intact, turn on your windshield wipers...then try running the pump. If no washer fluid comes out, and for this you might need another person to assist you, try running the pump again...listening to make sure the pump is in fact running. If the pump does run but still no fluid comes out, inspect all of the hoses as well as all of the outlets where the fluid sprays the windshield...it is possible that the outlets may be plugged. Some common reasons for the outlets to be plugged...debris, dirt/mud, and/or wax (has anyone recently waxed your Freightliner?). Just to be sure, using a small needle or even a wire, ensure each outlet is cleared and not obstructed with anything. After that, try running the pump again. If no luck, try removing the hoses going from the tank to the windshield. Once removed, using something like a wire coat hanger, clear each hose for any possible obstruction. Reattach hoses and try running pump again. If still no luck, I would guess the problem might be located with the washer pump itself. Before opting to replace the pump, if you believe that is the problem and the pump just doesn't operate, check all fuses and inspect any/all wiring connections.

Good luck
Jason

I need to re-install my windshield washer fluid tank and pump as one did not come with the car. I have salvaged a used one from another 1985 300zx but need to know how to install it (electircal and hoses...

  • Do you mean the car you bought came with one but when you bought the car for some reason it was not on your car? Or do you mean it never had a tank and pump and now you want to install one from scratch?
  • If your starting from scratch the you need to find an area to put the tank and pump out. It's a basic set up really.
  • A small hose comes off the top of the washer fluid pump and goes up towards the wiper arms.
  • Right before exiting the engine bay you want to install a "Y" adapter on the end of that first hose.
  • Now you just run a hose from each tip of that "Y" adapter up to the wiper arms.
  • You need to make sure the wiper arms on the car you are installing this on has a place to put these hoses. It will be right at the base of the wiper arm and you just push the end of each hose on a wiper arm and then it will spray.
  • Now you jest need power to the pump. If you don't have a washer fluid switch on the car then just get a toggle switch and run a power feed and a ground wire through the firewall from the dash right to the pump.
  • Find an area to anchor the tank. A couple bolts should hold it just fine.
  • Overall an easy job.

  • Hope this helps
Regards, Tony

Low Washer fluid warning light came on my Lexus 2004 rx330. Fill up fluid to full, but low washer fluid warning did not go off. Is there a way to reset, or is there a loose connection? Headlight washer and...

There is a little float mechanism inside the washer tank that is probably stuck or binding. If the wiper/washers work, you have power to the fluid tank.
Pull of the top and see if you can locate it. You might need a piece of flexible, fine wire to GENTLY help it along...

When i go to use the windshield wipers the wipers move but the fluid which is full doesn't come out.

follow the windshield spray nasal water lie to the pump making sure the line is not broken, next do you hear the pump running when you spay the fluid, if not that the pump is faulty, if you do hear the pump running, more likely the windshield spray nasal is clog with debris; to unclog it try to use a clothes needle, poke around in it to see if you can clear the blockage, if not, replace will be the best idea, fairly cheap and easy to replace. those windshield tank and the pump does not have good filter on them and they tend to get clog up in the pump or the spray nasal.

Where is the windshield fluid reservoir tank, and

if you had a picture of the engine compartment it would be easier, i tried looking, but am having problem finding a pic of it. generically, it will be located along the edges of the engine compartment = in the front corners, or along the edges on either side. don't be frustrated is you can't see the tank as some manufacturer have "hidden" them below and all you will see is the cap, has some writing on it that says windshield fluid or a little picture of a windshield wiper
