Cruise control intermittently quit working, finally stopped working. I replaced the multifunction control arm on the steering column, but still doesn't work. Purchased a replacement brake switch, but can't even see how or where to get to it. No sophisticated computer trouble code diagnostic tool. Should I go have it diagnosed for trouble codes, or figure out how to replace brake switch? Probably smarter to have it diagnosed first.
First off CK your curise control throttle cable. You should start at the throttle body where the two cables connect to it. (throttle and cruise control cables) This is where I have found is the most common problem is located. Make sure the curise cable is connected and not broken or cut. I have found this to be a very common problem.
If you find them intact. Then its too easy from there. Just trace the cable back to the electric motor that works the cable and so forth. From my experiance your problem is mechanical not electrical.
