Sudden loss of electrics

I ocassionally lose my complete electrical output very suddenly where my vehicle just dies instantly,and at other times when the electronic items inside start flashing somewhat weakly and the car loses all power and dies in about a minute, only to get them back sometimes when I have simply just pushed down on the Power Distribution Box to make sure everything was seated good. It will then operate for long periods of time before happening again. I've checked the connection going into the P.D.R.at the main megafuse,as well as the other connections,but can't find anything loose or corroded, and everything appears to be correct. Can't find any loose grounds and a fuse can't blow and then work again. Would a relay be capable of causing this,but still work the rest of the time? Seems to me that since everything electrical on my car is affected (or from what I can tell),and not any certain individual circuits,it has to be something major. Has anyone ever dealt with a problem such as this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a 98 Sable LS Wagon 24 Valve DOHC and I have exactly the same problem, and I do not have, nor has anyone else been able to give me, a solution. At least now I know thatI am not crazy and that someone else(probably more) has the same problem. My car will suddenly have an electrical spastic fit - all the indicator lights and bells go off and the engine just quits while driving, which is a lot of fun then with no power steering and not-so-good brakes - a nightmare in traffic. The radio also defaults to AM from FM, and the radio presets disappear, and the clock defaults back to 12:00. The only thing I discovered by accident to get it going again is to loosen the battery terminal clamps, wiggle them, and then retighten them. The cable clamps and the posts are not corroded, by the way, so I don't understand why this would help. This usually works, but there have been other times when at this point my battery is now dead, and will not restart the car without a jump. The battery is a few months old and has been tested as good. I have also tested electrical output from the alternator when the car is running and that also tests OK. This problem has plagued me for over a year and nobody yet has had a definite answer as to the cause. I have been stuck without power in some very hairy locations and situations and luckily haven't had an accident. If anyone who has cured this mess has the answer, I sure could use it.     Try replacing the battey saver module, from here all I can do is guess

Try changeing the starter and positive battery cable on newer cars the main source of power runs to the starter and is distributed from there

Ifi it is a problem when hot1st go to control module after checcking for ocilating curent on - side of coil

Check your connections at the battery and alternator. Make sure they are tight. Also make sure that your positive battery cable is not shorting out against anything.

Car runs great but suddlenly loses power or goes off. I replaced fuel pump and filter. Hard to tell if its electrical or a fuel system problem. Injectors, spark plugs look ok.


Have someone look at your MAF air flow sensor. It is a known problem on that generation Maxima and causes sudden loss of power and stalls.

You are having a sudden loss of power during acceleration with your 1994 dodge ram 250 what is causing this electrical or fuel issues?


You couldn't pay me to own a dodge anything, so I am pretty sure you are mistaken about mine having a sudden loss of power.
If I did have one with those symptoms id be checking fuel pressure first.
