Question about 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
My car has been driving fine i went to go get in my car and turn it over the key goes into the start position but the car wont start all of the interior and exterior light flash and there is a small winding almost like a fan running then 3 clicks. i tried putting it in neutral and starting it same thing. its almost like a computer malfunction lol but i don't know if thats possible. i let it sit for almost an hour tried it again same thing, but it had been running fine all day
Is the battery that is in the car the original battery? Most likely you either have very dirty battery post or your battery is going bad. If you clean the battery post and cable ends remember, the corrosion on the battery post is also corrosive to your skin and clothes. Put on gloves and use very old clothes. you can clean battery post/cables with a regular coke and a pocket knife. Take the cable ends off the battery post and pour the coke on the battery post and the cable ends then lightly scrape the battery post and cable ends until you get a clean silver tint on both the post and the cable ends. if you get the corrosion on your skin clean it with lots of soap and water. If the lead on your cable ends and battery post are a dull gray they are dirty. The place where the battery cable and the battery post meet should be a clean silver tint. The small winding you hear is the fuel pump giving the fuel system a precharge of pressure. The clicks you hear is the starter trying to start the car but it can't due to the battery being very low on voltage. If you look at the battery (without the cover if your car has a battery cover) and there is a slight bulging of the sides of the battery that is a sign of the battery going bad. At that point the only fix is a new battery.
Hope that helps.
