No its not normal for it to hesitate try a good full tune up(spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, oil change, ect.) that most of the time fix any lag you might have

Several things. It could be the fuel pump, check pressure. Could be the fuel filter, replace it, no checking it. My first 2 choices. Next would be compression check. Next would be a tune up, plugs, wires and the such.

i have lots of ideas. but your problem is the transmission! you need to have your transmission fluid and filter replaced ASAP your problems with letting off the gas pedal to let it shift may be a bad transmission modulator valve on the transmission itself. i do recommend you have the transmission fluid and filter replaced and add the lucas transmission treatment added into your transmission fluid change. it[lucas] costs per bottle $12.00 thats a very small price to pay compared to a transmission replacement! the transmission also has to have vacum, which the modulator valve on the transmission provides. not sure of the price of the product where you are but will say around $30.00 u.s. currency. thank you for choosing fixya.com i look forward to assisting you in the future.

sound like throttle position sensor.have it check out.also check air duct connected to mass air flow sensor and throttle body.if air duct is loose or off.it will cause severe hesitation.

I have a 2001 chevy tahoe wont start

could be as simple as a dirty fuel filter. or maybe the fuel pump has died..i will go with the fuel filter since you were able to get it started again.. also when replacing your fuel filter you should go ahead and get new plugs and wires.. a small tune up wouldnt hurt and would only set you back 100.00 dollers maybe.. hope this helps
