If the electric lock on the trunk is not working, you can use your key to open it. The lock location is kind of disgused by the XJ6 emblem. Put your key in and turn it and it will open up. Take out the panel and expose the battery for charging from there.

Put a battery charger on the starter cable from under the car & ground the black charger lead That will charge it enough to open the door & hood Thought every car has at least one key cylinder on drivers door !!
Look under your hood, you will find contact points for jump starting. If you have a battery charger, you can connect it to those jumper points, and that will give you enough juice to operate the trunk lock.
