Question about Mazda B2300
I am working on a 94 Mazda B2300 (same as Ranger 2300) and am having low power and engine surge under acceleration. The owner has installed new sparkplugs, right side plug wires check out ok, no codes in computer, fuel pressure and volume good, new MAF has been installed, cam timing ok. Vehicle starts up and idles fine-no surge at idle-no missing. Exhaust has been checked for backpressure-ok. Owner is almost willing to get rid of vehicle because of problem. There is a TSB for changing the ECM for a surge condition if EGR is causing concern. When I disconnect EGR vehicle runs no different. It almost acts like a lean conditon from vacuum leak but have no problem with engine missing or having too fast of idle or engine codes. Engine is running hot enough (.69 volts on ECT) although temp gauge reads low sometimes. Any ideas? Keith Wiebe I have the same low power and surge problem as paulrmc and the other guys. We have checked every system attached to the engine and all are good. Even my temp gage is the same with low readings. The engine has 16" of vacuum instead of 21-22 that it should but there is not vacuum leak. The computer has no codes showing but it is becomming obvious that the computer is the problem. I called Mazda but they did not know anything. We have searched the entire country for a replacement computer, new, rebuilt or used but no luck. Does anyone have any idea where one could be found?
