Question about 2005 Pontiac Grand Am

Grand am smells like gas inside the car

Lately I've noticed a strong gas smell inside my 2005 grand am. It seems like I only smell it when I'm idling and have the heat on. Any advice on what this could be?

there is fuel leaking from a device at the right side of the engine, it is at the end of the fuel rail, I believe it is the fuel pressure regulator, but have not had a chance to verify

My 2005 Grand Am also has the smell of gas when I first start up the car with the heat on. I had the fuel pressure regulator replaced and the car seems to run stronger but the gas smell is still there maybe stronger now. This seems to be a common problem with this car.

I have the same problem when i turn my car on in the morning to let it warm up. i turn the heat on and when i get in it, it smells like gas but as soon as i start going down the road it stops smelling. But when i get out after driving it, the outside smells like gas. i have had my gas lines checked, my gas tank is not leaking. any idea what it could be? ive checked what i could.

When I turn on the heat in the mornings to warm the car, there is a very strong gas smell as if I am at a gas station. It also smells very strong outside the car too.

I would definatly recheck the regulator to make certain you do not have any leaks.
But to be clear, you are smelling gas and not exhaust?
Also, is you cowl seal in good shape, not missing or damaged in any way?
Let me know.

Smell gas inside

On my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica I noticed a gas smell inside the cabin. I could also smell the gas very strong inside the engine bay when the car was running. It turned out to be a plastic line that connects between the fuel line from the tank, and the fuel rail which was leaking fuel. This line was located on the right side of the engine bay under the air cleaner. This was right next to the HVAC system, which was why I was smelling it in the cab of the car so much.

Gas Smell 99 Pontiac Grand Am

if no leaks in lines, a bad or leaking fuel regulator can cause hard starting, poor fuel economy, stalling, check engine light, gas smell from under hood.

When the heater is on there is a very strong natural gas kind of smell inside our 2005 Yukon Denali. It seems to come from the vents... and seems to be worse when slowing down or idling. Had the vehicle...

Check under the hood and make sure there are no fuel lines leaking. You should be able to smell it.If you don`t know what to look for the take it to a garage or your dealer and have them look it over.It is not safe to drive if you smell fuel while driving. It could cause a fire under the hood.Good luck.

My car smells like gas inside too

not the catalytic converter. you have a fuel line leaking somewhere. check lines on top of motor at fuel rails.and line leading from tank to filter-filter to motor.
