1. Turn the ignition to ON do not start.Engine OFF dash board lights ON.
2. Press and release the reset button in the driver information center (DIC) until the OIL LIFE message is displayed.
3. Once the alternating OIL LIFE and RESET messages appear on the DIC display, press and hold the reset stem until several beeps sound. This confirms the OIL LIFE system has been reset.
4. Turn the key to lock. If the CHANGE OIL message comes back on when you start the engine, the ENGINE OIL LIFE system has not reset. Repeat the procedure
Alternate Method
1. Turn the ignition key to ON with the engine off.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. Several beeps sound. This confirms the oil life system has been reset.
3. Turn the ignition key OFF.
4. If the CHANGE/OIL message comes back on when you start the engine, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure
I use the second method, it is more universal and it works for Chevy Venture too.

TO RESET CHANGE OIL LIGHT.TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO RUN POSITION WITH ENGINE OFF.PRESS ACCELERATOR PEDAL QUICKLY 3 TIMES IN 5 SECONDS.THE OIL LIGHT WILL FLASH WHEN IT HAS RESET.

Ive heard of the oil pump going out and triggering the fuel shut off switch to save the motor on gm's. I would check this out.

6 quarts with oil filter change.

To reset the oil life......turn the key on....do not start....pump the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.....then turn the key off and back on and it should be reset....sometimes u have to do it a couple times.......and what heater fan r u talking about?.....

I found the problem. Talking with a technician from the controller company, we determined that it was a fuse problem. I found that the fuse to the CHMSL was blown.

turn the key to the on position and press the gas pedal to the floor 6 times in rapid succession. than start the trurck without turning the key off

Turn the key till all the lights come on then press the gas pedal to the floore 3 times in 5 seconds .

Is this after recent oil change.Sound like you have the wrong viscosity of oil.
