Question about Saab 900

1 Answer

My ignition seems to be stuck in lock, I got it to start a few times, but it won't seem to budge now. Also, the ignition doesn't "pop up" like it normally does and my brake pedal is acting funny (i.e. no clicking sound indicating I can move the gear shift) is this going to cost a lot to fix? Is there anything I can do at home to solve it?

Possible solution - This happened to me and my battery was dead in my key fob and also I needed an ignition switch because a piece on it was broken which therefore wouldn't turn to start the engine.

when a car does not start in park or stay in park that is your neutral safety switch on the transmission. the latch can be the lock actuator.

The first thing I would do is clean your battery connections very good. you may have to remove the plastic covers off the cable ends to get them cleaned good. Also make sure you get the connection bolts tight.

Nope the tumblers in the ignition cylender are worn and bent causing the key to be stuck. Ask any locksmith and they will agree

Honda Accord 1993 EX is stuck on Park. It doesn't budge if I start the car and it doesn't budge if i try to shift to N,P,D4,D3

Use your ignition key and stick it straight down into the slot marked shift lock, next to the shifter. That will allow you to shift it into neutral. Leave it there, remove the key from that slot and start the car. You will then be able to shift into drive, from neutral, and be on your way.

For the past few months the "Check Engine" light

This doesn't sound like an alternator problem at all, It sounds like an EGR issue or vapor lock issue.

Power door locks will not remain locked, they pop unlocked after a few seconds

This is a problem with the ignition switch, it thinks the key is still in the ignition, the internal switch may be stuck , start by spraying a little silicone into key hole then put key in and start car then remove key, do this a few times and spray a few times but just a little spray. hope this helps.

My ignition will not turn over in the meaning of the key would not turn at all not that it wouldnt start the key would not turn at all seemed like it was locked somehow

Your steering lock sounds like the problem. Try rotating the steering wheel slightly so that the pressure is not on the ignition lock and the key should turn and you can start your engine. The steering wheel will only need to mave a fraction of a turn to take the pressure off the lock.

Anti-theft system stuck triggered

Anti-theft does not disable the lock cylinder itself it only keeps vehicle from starting, lock cylinder will still turn and energize the electronics. Sounds like you have a stuck tumbler in the lock cylinder itself, some times turning steering wheel with one hand while trying to turn the key with the other will free it up.
