mcdevito75 Here, Your local repair shop should check out this code and repair the problem. Depending on the problem it may not be wise to continue to drive the suv, Safety sake have it checked at your local shop.
It shouldn't fall apart if you remove the tire and if it does you should be thankful you didn't drive it to the shop, jack that side of the vehicle up and then rock the tire from the top and bottom, sounds like you may have a bad wheel bearing, the grinding could be the bearing or it could be the rear drum dragging on the brakes or both. If the wheel has excessive wobble when rocked it is probably the wheel bearing.
renew the flexible hose connections at the tank end if fitted and not a plastic pipe going straight to sender unit .Sucking in air problem is one of THEM jobs .a right pain to find 99%of the time .but any flexible rubber pipes can and do go porous with age
There should be four bolts holding the drive shaft agt the output end of the transmission. Remove those bolts. There will also be four bolts holding the shaft at the third member of the axle. remove those bolts as well. For safeties sake. block your wheels before you do this.
