Question about 2001 Dodge Durango

2001 Dodge Durango transmission goes out?

My wife was driving to work when suddenly the transmission or something disengaged and failed to either go forward or reverse. To this point the Durango had ran great with no problems through 103,000 miles. The Durango will neither go forward or reverse. Any solutions or clues as to what might be the problem.

the car just stopped on Sunday - the mechanic said it is the transmission and the cost is $2,700 to fix it. The car has been great but it has 125,000 miles on it. Is it worth it to fix it?

My o6 durango 4wd will go in drive but will not go in reverse, recently it it was towed was something possibily disengaged?

Nothing I know of would cause that when disengaged. One has to ask how far was it towed, and at what speed? I'm afraid you may need to visit the transmission shop.

You need to check the cv joints in the front end or the u joints in the front drive shaft. If none of the above then the problem is internal in the front diff.

My wife has a 2001 Durango, while accelerating up a slight incline, the transmission or something jerks or clunks a couple of times (kind of like an engine miss) then it does OK and may not do it again...

Add up to three bottles Lucas no slip.Remove the difference. You have to live or rebuild the transmission.Any codes?Drive easy you may extend the life of the transmission.
