Question about 2006 Kia Sedona

5 Answers

Leaking Fluid I have a 2006 Kia Sedona..I constantly have a puddle under my van which they tell me is just fluid from the air conditioning/condensation.. i'm not even using the air conditioning for this to happen...apparently fan related as well..it is staining my driveway..if its just condensation then why the stain? No indicators come on telling me that fluids are low so I don't know if what they are telling me is correct. If so, then why aren't all cars leaking? Nothing should leak from a vehicle in my opinion. Any idea on this? Thanks

I'd also assume that it's from your AC/defroster. Condensation will continue to drip even after the AC/car has been shut off. It may also be condensation coming from your exhaust tailpipe. Both of these are normal and thought it's only water, it may pick up contaminants and therefore cause a stain.

In general, don't rely on your gauges/idiot lights to tell you when you're low on fluids, because they usually won't alert you until there's already a problem. Check your oil and coolant levels, and your tire's air pressure occasionally (every 3 months), more often if you suspect a problem.

If you don't have the know-how or inclination, to do this, most quick oil-change places check all this and more for you at no additional cost.

If it's really bothering you and your car is still under warranty, you may want to try the dealership.

Put a piece of news paper under your car where you think the leak is coming from. Redish fluid is transmission fluid, brown or black fluid is oil, green or orange fluid is anti-freeze. If you park under a carport or outside put rocks or bricks at the corners of the news paper to ensure it stays under the car.

hope this helps.

Good Luck

Im assuming that you mean power steering fluid is leaking... top off the fluid, replace cap, and have a freind turn the steering wheel back and forth while you check the hoses and lines for leaking fluid.

Looking at the motor from the front it is on the right hand side , it is down pretty low so it is hard to see it , always check fluid when hot and the van is on level ground and is running also

KIA SEDONA HAS REAR HEAT BUT NOT FRONT HEAT BLOWERS WORK BUT ONLY COLD AIR COMES IN FRONT

This could be a serious problem. Check your coolant level, then check the rear heater lines that supply coolant to the rear heater. They run under the van, over time they rust and leak. Because it is under and to the rear of the van it is hard to notice, i.e. coolant puddles and smell. But please note that this engine has aluminum cylinder heads and does not take kindly to being overheated.

It's likely rusted out transmission cooler lines. Only way to tell is to take a look under it. Might be able to see some of the line by opening the hood.

This sounds like textbook steering rack failure. If the internal seals wear out the rack will leak fluid internally, causing the exact symptoms you're describing. These can be rebuilt, but it's hardly worth the effort. It's less headache and only slightly more expensive to replace it.

Have the coolant lines checked that go to your rear air conditioning. Located near the exhast pipes. We had a similar issue and found that there is a small area that is not protected by weather, road, etc. and corrodes. This is a known issue by KIA but they will not cover it under any of their warranties. We had a KIA dealer tell us our engine was blown because he noticed antifreeze coming from the exhast pipe while up on the rack. Tried to tell us we would need to replace entire engine until they realized it was antifreeze dripping from coolant lines and dropping onto exhast pipe. I believe that since we had this repaired, there was tech report for KIA repair shops regarding this problem. Cost of repair - $700.00. This is only one of several issues I have had with this van - will never buy or recommend anyone to buy KIA. KIA does not stand behind their so called "warranty".

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2002 SEDONA. I HAVE HAD IT TO SEVERAL DEALERS AND ALL HAVE THE SAME ANSWER, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. SO I JUST FORGET ABOUT IT. CHECK YOUR WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID, ENSURE IT IS FULL, TRANSMISSION FLUID, ENGINE OIL, BRAKE AND POWER FLUID, THE NORM. IF NONE OF THIS WORKS, DON'T SPEND ALOT WORRYING ABOUT IT.
