Just bought this car used 1 week ago and like magic, the sport mode / shiftronic / manualmatic, whatever you want to call it won't engage. It drives just fine, no check engine lights, etc... I simply can't shift it from Drive into "Manual" or "Sport Mode". It also feels like I have to give it a little, normally, un-needed push to get it into the shiftronic position. Besides taking it to he dealer, any simple ideas I could try before I waste hours of my life waiting for their service department?
I will be straight with you, this shifttronics transmissions are nothing but problems, no one seems to have perfected them yet, not even Acura, this system is all electric solenoids, sensors and valves, i know it is time consuming at the dealer but i would go straight to them and if you have a warranty make sure you get something in writing for the future as this will be an ongoing problem with this type of transmission. soory for the bad news but hope you have a warranty on the car. good day
SOURCE: CAR JERKING AROUND 30,000 MILES
We have a 2007 Elantra company car with the same trouble jerking around 35-40. Went to dealer many times they said change Trans fluid it had 33k miles. Cost us $170. Did not fix it. Then they said it would need a new trans would not give back money for trans service. They put new trans in under warranty picked up car was still the same went back more times they said #3 spark plug was bad this I was told twice. I had had it with the dealer ship and demanded they find the trouble here it was a bad spark plug wire on #3 they replaced all the wires and #3 spark plug for the 3rd time and problem went a way. This dealer ship change a transmission for spark plug wirre i hope your dealership is better then this one

Check the level in the ******. Make sure that oil is there and topped up if necessary. It should be on the upper marks. Good luck.

all fuses good ?is it an auto or standard ?do you have a test light to see if there is power going back there if its an auto maybe a safety neutral switch if its a standard maybe the eswitch on the gear box
Hello
The engine and
transmission in this cars drivetrain is fully electronically
controlled by a computer called the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).
Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of
the problem in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these
fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special
tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the
appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s)

End result was there's a button in the shift assembly that is supposed to go down when you move the stick into it... instead, it was going up. The dealer went ahead and replaced the entire shifting assembly, covered under warranty (23000 miles)... so everything is good to go now.
