Question about 2002 Cadillac Deville

1 Answer

My problem sounds similar to the one you had.

Here's my story:
I have the same problem. I've taken my car to the cadillac dealer twice, and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. I had an amp hooked up to my car in 2005 at best buy. They hooked it up some kind of way that the only way it turns on, is when I roll my windows down. I never got it fixed. But I didn't start having the problem where my car cuts off until 3 months ago. After the last time I had my car checked out and it stopped on me again, I tried to start it with the original key and I didn't get any type of reaction. Then I tried with my spare key, and it started right up. So I was thinking it was my key that was faulty. But now it's still cutting off with the spare key, so I don't think that's the problem anymore. Reading your story, I'm staritng to wonder if it's the same problem. How long was after you had the alarm put in, before your car started cutting off?

TJ. I have been through probably every type of problem you can have with my security system on my 2002. From what it sounds like to me in your situation is this. What happens over time is if you or the previous owner has many keys on there key ring it pulls the ignition key downward and over time it wears out the tumblers in the ignition switch witch if not lined up correctly after the key has been entered into the switch the security system will automatically take over and it will not start. I had the auto start removed even thoe it was not the problem. Who ever wired it in should have been slapped. Another possibility is that the car is not reading the chip in the key properly, prompting the security system to kick in. I hope this helps. Its very frustrating to sit in your work parking lot after everyone else go's home. Good luck, let me know how it comes out.

I have a 2009 Nissan Altima with 130k on it. I have a clunking rattle in the rear end. I have had it to the dealership 8 times now and they tell me there is nothing loose or wrong with the car. HELP

I had a similar problem years ago. Turned out it was a package of raisins in the back...
Your Altima is front-drive, so all that's back there is suspension and what's in the trunk. I'd start by taking everything out of the trunk, including the jack and spare tire. Clunk still there? Ok, try a mechanic, not a dealer "parts replacer".... I have lots of stories about dealers...

Bottom line, most dealers don't actually hire mechanics, they get people that simply replace whatever the computer tells them to replace. If there's no "check engine" code, then nothing is wrong.

Left headlight won`t work.

Have you checked the fuse box for any blown fuses? If they're all good then you must have a loose wiring harness somewhere or a bad ground.

Cadillac front axle allignment

Tire replacement is about normal, as that is the CTS-V, it likely has summer only sport tires, those have a very short lifespan.

Do you have another Cadillac dealer in your area, so that you can get a second opinion on the axle locations? That doesn't sound right to me, but then again, I've seen some crazy factory stuff on other makes and models.

2008 honda odessey ignition switch trouble

Hi

I have same problem - intermittently in my 2005 Honda Odyssey (Australian Version)! Same story with dealer response since of course it will not do it when I take it in (twice). Honda dealer says he cannot repair problem unless he sees it is broken! Very frustrating!!!!

I have had some success by putting the key in and out of lock several times and then moving it about when I try to start the car - normally this fixes it. I only hope this does not break permanently when I am far from home!

Keen to hear if others have this problem and have found a permanent solution.

No digital display working

this is caused by a circuit board failure inside the digital cluster, this cluster can be rebuilt, the only real option on these is a factory repair center, contact your GM dealer for a name and number.
