Starter Replacement 1995 4wd, 6 cyl Pickup

How difficult is it to replace the starter on this pickup. I will be working at ground level with the vehicle jacked up.

Does the fact that I have a 4 wd present any additional problems?

Very difficult, apparently 4wd makes it even harder
you need to drop part to the front suspension to get it out

i attempted to do it myself but couldn't and just ended up having it towed in for servicing, im not sure how savvy you are but its a pretty big job (took 3 hours for the shop to do)

so i would probably suggest just taking it in,
also Nissan rebuilt starters are known to have problems

How do i change a 6 volt system to a 12 volt system on a 1948 dodge pickup

Voltage conversion necessitates the replacement of all 6 volt light bulbs and motors with 12 volt light bulbs and motors (including the starter), plus the addition of a ballast resistor to the ignition primary so that the ignition primary can continue to operate on 6 volts. You will need to refit a 12 volt starter solenoid, alternator, and regulator to the vehicle as well. Needless to point out that you will also need to replace the radio. You can use the original wiring if it is in good condition, and all switches should operate adequately as long as their insulators are still intact. The 12 volt system uses less current than the 6 volt system, so there should be no problem with wire gauge.
IMPORTANT: If the original system is POSITIVE GROUND instead of NEGATIVE GROUND, you will need to verify the polarity of all motors you replace, plus reverse the polarity of the ignition coil primary.

Can I change the solenoid on my 1992 Dodge Dakota pickup, 6 cyl without removing the starter or do I have to replace the whole starter?

Most starters now a days have the solenoid integrated into the starter and are therefore irremovable. Replace the whole starter.

I have a 2wd 95 Nissan XE 4 cyl pickup and i am having problems starting the truck. when i turn the key it ticks then slowly turns over. sometimes this ticks only happen briefly other times in will take...

You need to pull out the starter and take it to your local auto parts store for testing - I suspect your armature in your starter is worn and causing your issue. This is a replaceable part and, depending on your skill level, you may be able to do it yourself. If your starter is not too expensive it may be feasible to just replace it as your brushes in the starter are probably worn too.

Removing a starter from a 95 tacoma pickup

I found it convenient to access the starter from the wheelwell. You may need to remove the wheel from the truck first, but then there is easy access to the starter. Make sure you remove the negative battery cable before your start the job. You don't want sparks!
