2000 Jeep Wrangler Check Gauges Light on

I'm afraid I got skrewed at the dealership, but maybe someone can double check and see if they did the right thing.

Story: So my Check Gauges Light went on and my charging indicator was low as well as my RPM and Speedometer going on the fritz. The dealership registered a PCM Internal Short and replaced the PCM as well as found a loss of communication to the IP Cluster and a wiring harness to the instrument panel cluster shorted and they replaced the harness to the IP Cluster. They fixed all that and gave it back to me last week. However as I was driving it, I noticed it driving stiffer than usual as I was pressing the brake and gas pedals and that the gauges were still a bit off, but not as fritzy as they were before. Then as I drove back my battery indicator went down to zero and the check gauges light went back on. Engine is running fine, no noises no nothing, but I'm really worried about my electrical problems. I took it back to the dealership, yelled at them and they later called me saying that the alternator was malfunctioning causing the battery to go low and my gauges to be a bit off. It doesn't sound right to me. Any advice?

Our brake lights keep going out, the Stop LPS Fuse keeps popping. My husband checked wires, nothing looked wrong. He replaced the brake lamp switch and fuse still popped. Now he's checking actual tail...

check to see if someone has installed a tow hitch on the rear, they would have spliced in the wiring in the rear of vehicle, thats where i find alot of corroded wire that were poorly taped.

1999 Jeep wrangler- 4-cylinder - gauges going dead

The check engine light is for emissions related items. It almost never will indicate that you are going to break down. If it starts to flash then you need to get somewhere right away, (I am not saying disregard it, just saying you don't have to be afraid of it)

The other problem will not be solved by a regular scan. It sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere. A dealer may be able to do a body scan, but even that is a hit and miss.

If you know how to read a schematic, get one for the air bag system. Note: be sure to unhook the battery for at least a half an hour before you mess with the wiring for the air bag. trace down any grounds and determine if they are sound.

Hope that helps.

Describe your 1997 Jeep Wrangler 1997 jeep wrangler 4 cyl idle fluctuates 900 rpm to 400 rpm after warmup no service engine light but check guages light comes on momentarily when rpm gets low and oil press...

The check gauges light is normal because at 400 rpm it isn't running fast enough to build sufficient oil pressure. I am guessing maybe a vaccum leak???

Check engine light comes on and then the gauges flat line and drop, then the odom reading says no bus?? what does that mean??

Not sure about the gauges problem, but "No Bus" means that the PCM or the computer can not communicate.
