The cluch is operated by a cable, the adjustment is at the fire wall in the engine compartment [drivers side] on the cable. To adjust the cable loosen the lock nut, then loosen adjusting nut for more freeplay or tighten for less freeplay. Freeplay is checked at clutch pedal, it should have approx. 1/2 to 3/4 inch of freeplay.

How do I adjust the clutch in my 1993 Isuzu trooper? I have about an inch left until I can't shift anymore....

ok, there are 2 clutch systems.
and hydraulic. (its self adjusting but when bad, not)
the cable type adjust like all cars made, with this.
its a nut on the end of cable, called setting free play every 30k.
if hydr.
the is the MC fluid dropping?, if yes, its bad. it or slave or both.

ill attempt to rear online FSM for you ( so can you if you want.
yup, the book shows it had both types. (im sure its a cut of year, but 1994 is a long time ago )
with the below data, it seems the cable ended in
  • 1992-95 Pick-Up and Amigo with 2.6L engine-6.7-7.1 in. (171-181mm)
  • 1992-95 Pick-Up and Amigo with 3.1L or 2.3L engine-7.3-7.7 in. (185-195mm)
  • 1988-91 Pick-Up and Amigo-7.3-7.7 in. (185-195mm)
  • 1985-87 Pick-Up-8.12-8.51 in. (206-216mm)
  • 1981-84 Pick-Up-6.5-6.8 in. (164-174mm)
  • 1987 Trooper II-9.1-9.5 in. (231-241mm)
  • 1985-86 Trooper II-8.12-8.51 in. (206-216mm)

the above is free play cable on all of these cable cars.

so yours is Hydraulic, if you read the operators guide
it told you to check this, along with the brake MC
same way. full to the line
i bet its not......
if it drops (same with brakes)
that is bad news, it has leaks.
it can leak 2 common places.
off the slave cyl, end, driving to work, not ever seen.!
or off rear of MC down fire wall. is it?

or rust cause leaks in lines. or loose fittings......
all of this is checked first.. looking.....

MC = master cylinder.....

How do i properly adjust the clutch cable on. manual 87 isuzu trooper ii? It was given to me and wife by her uncle whp replaced the clutch 4yrs ago. He had put the tranny back in and stopped. I just...

At the tranny is the adjuster, adjust that so you have at least 1 inch of free play at the pedal, if this doesn't cure the slipping you have a clutch issue.

Check engine and trans light are on a 2001 Isuzu trooper 2 X 4, I took it to auto zone the diagnostic check showed loose band on transmission I know that I need a torque wrench to adjust I need to know...

The band adjustment in not a torque adjustment. Drop the main pan on the transmission. You will see the valve body with filter on it. At the rear drivers side you will see a round dome piece with a flat flange with four bolts in it. Remove the bolts and take this cover off. Now you will see a round piston with an adjustment screw in it. Break the jam nut loose and tighten the allen bolt in until tight. Back off five complete turns and reset jam nut. When you have the pan off, take note of how much clutch material is in it. If you have a lot it could be time to replace the clutches. Also it is a good idea to put in a new filter if you are in there. Good luck
