There's more than one bulb to the instrument cluster, and they are the black plugs on the back of the cluster. Twist these out and look at the filaments, if they're broken, replace them. I don't believe these are sold separately from their holder, and you'll need to purchase them from an auto parts store. The lighter colored plugs are the warning, or idiot lights and as long as these work, there's no need to change them out. Hope this helps.

Dash lights out, need fuse diagram on my 99 chevy malibu can anyone tell me which one it is

library has free access to automotive database. 10 cents a page to print. a 12v test light is used by technicians to verify fuses. you can eliminate or verify quickly that a fuse blew. but also remember power feed to that fusebox comes first from the power distribution center under the hood. it also has fuses and relays. if all the bulbs went out now, then you should pull the cluster. when i worked on these when they were new, some cluster repair was done by sending the cluster out to be fixed. hope its just your bulbs.

Instrument panel lights are not working, what can I do to fix

If they have been going out one by one over time, you'll have to pull the instrument cluster and replace the bulbs.

If they all went out all at once, check the fuse.

The LCD on my odometer suddenly got REAL dim. All the other lights are all the way up.

Hello: Sounds like the bulb went out in the cluster, remove the black trim over the cluster, then remove the four screws that hold the cluster, pull out far enough to unplug the electrical connector. you will probably have to go to a Chev/GM dealer to get the bulb, it is a special bulb.

Installing Dash light bulbs in a 1993 S-10 Blazer

To replace the blubs you have to take out the insterment cluster. This is done by romoving the light switch trim plate and disconnect the wirering harness. The remove the A/C heater control panel. Remove the plastic trim from around the insterment cluster. The unbolt and remove the insterment cluster and uplug the wires and the speedometer cable. This speedometer cables can be a pain in the **** but depress the spring clip and pull. The bulbs are accessed from the back of the cluster.
Bulbs in this cluster don't burn out very often and if none of the bulbs don't work it probley isn't the bulbs. In this cause make sure the dimmer switch is turned up if it is play with the switch see if the dash light flicker.
Oh also in the mauals they always tell you to disconnect battery when pulling electrial apart.

It is most likely a bulb.one bad bulb can really darken a cluster quite a bit.

Odometer light went out. Is there a bulb or a fuze?

All the lights work off the same fuse so the problem is the light bulb, you will have to pull the instrument cluster out to gain access to change the burnt out bulb.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T ILLUMINATE

Yes, that is correct. What probably happened is the bulb for the check engine light burned out. The way to fix it is to pull the gauge cluster out and replace the bulb. It's not very hard to do either. If i remember right, for that year civic there are two screws holding the cluster trim in on the top inside by the cluster case. Then the dash peice connected to that that goes around the steering wheel just pops out and u just unplug the electrical switches and pull that whole peice out. Once that's out there should be 3 screws holding the cluster in, take those out and the cluster will pull right out. Carefully unplug the harness and speedometer cable and locate the check engine light bulb and twist a quarter turn and pull straight out. Then just replace with new bulb and reinstall the parts. If u can do it yourself you'll save a lot of money. A dealer would probably charge u an hour of labor which is somewhere around $115 depending on the dealer and location. Then the price of the bulb, probably a few bucks. Hope this helps, good luck!

CHECK ENGINE BULB REPLACEMENT

You have to take all the facia off the dash - and then pull the dash cluster out. It is a long hard job for a light bulb. When you take the dash out don't forget to undo the speedometer wire and then the wire plugs on the left and right upper sides of the dash unit.
