2001 camry check engine light flashes

Car running rough and check engine light was flashing with 54K miles. Autozone checked it with engine analyzer and said spark plugs were miss firing. How do I replace spark plugs on a 2001 V6 Toyota Camry

Codes were as you listed above ... the 300 series. Car has difficulty accelerating at times and is sluggish with full throttle demands.

My 1995 Toyota Camry V6 is also doing the same thing, it runs rough and I have changed the oxygen sensor on both banks. I also put in the required spark plugs for a 1995 Camry and set the gaps. Each of the coils have also been checked and still to no avail...

    Here are the codes:

    1. Weak/missing spark
    2. Plugged fuel injector
    3. Engine mechanical fault
    4. Large vacuum leak specific to cylinder

    Any ideas?

Looks like it is time for a set of plugs. What you need to do is go to a Toyota dealership, and purchase the correct plugs for your vehicle. Plugs other than the correct ones seem to make the cars run worse, as the plugs are specifically designed for each engine application. The front plugs are easy to remove, all you need is a spark plug socket and a10 millimeter wrench. The down side is that the rear plugs are difficult to change, as the intake plenum is in your way. If you want to change the plugs, it would be in your best interests to remove the intake plenum, that will give you better access to the back side set of plugs. Just be careful, whilst removing the plenum, that you do not damage the plenum gasket. If it tears, you are going to have to replace it. Get back to me after you get the plugs in.

Please give me the actual DTC codes from the autozone scan. Are they P-0300/0301/02/03/04/05/06 or other codes?

SOURCE: 1997 Camry Valve Cover Gasket Replacement

Removal of the plenum is pretty straight forward. You will need to replace the plenum gasket after you remove it; the gasket is not reusable. Personally, if I was going to take the trouble to remove the plenum, I would replace the plugs and wires back there, also.
I know, I have a 93 Camry V6, and it is a real pain to do the plugs and wires with the plenum on. There are no secrets or great tips on the plenum removal, just take your time. Remember that there are different size bolts, and where they go. Please get back to me if you need any more info...Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa to resolve your issue.
The graciousness of a FixYa rating for my assistance would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: How to I replace the oil filter on a 2009 Toyota Camry V6 engine?

Under the engine in the front you will see an aluminum cover. There is a square hole that fits a 3/8 ratchet remove this first. The new filter comes with a drain adapter that snaps in the hole under the cover. This lets the oil in the housing drain. Then take a oil filter cup wrench or a big channel lock to twist of the larger portion. Then change the filter and o-ring and reinstall.Make sure the o-ring on the square drive cover is there also

Check engine light on engine acts as if missing new plugs wires and #5 spark pack missing again 6cyl 4x4 3.4 185000 miles

was it running this way before you changed the plugs? just a shot in the dark here possibly a defective spark plug, rare but not impossible. if it was running fine before changing them. Other wise I would take it to autozone and pull codes if it is P0350 #5 misfire we would use the process fuel, fire and compression. is there any engine coolant around any cylinders? Have you checked the coil packs? could be a bad coil pack. if no evidence of fluid around them proceeded to check for spark, fuel then compression. post back results or new post with more deductions. iis it no spark no fuel or bad compression.

Check engine light is flashing and car is shaking especially when i accelerate

You are experiencing a secondary ignition miss fire. The most likely cause would be one or more spark plug wires breaking down .If you can go to a Autozone parts store they can check the codes for free .PO 301 to PO 306 codes would be miss fire codes.:)

Rough running at idle

Get the code scanned to find out what exact POXXX code is stored in the ECM, this will help you big time.

Also plugs should be platinums that are good for 90-100K miles.

Bad gas mileage is from the Check engine light being on.

Very Rough running engine

I think the auto-lite plugs are probably your problem. yes it sounds like mis-firing. That's one of the few times the check engine light flashes. I'd suggest changing the plugs to a NGK plug, that's the ONLY plug we use in our Audi's and VW's (work at a VW/Audi shop). Try that, and it should take care of the rough running, if not, it will probably need coils too.

99 taurus running rough smells funny light flashing

The reason the check engine light is flashing instead of on steady is because it is missing bad and the car companies did this to tell you to stop the car as soon as possible to prevent damage. That is the only time the light will flash off and on instead of being on steady.
The cause is a little harder to diagnose. It could be a fouled spark plug, a bad plug wire, an injector, stopped up fuel filter. I can't remember if that car has the distributer or the coil packs but you could have a problem there. If you have never changed the spark plugs or fuel filter, it is well over a hundred thousand miles to do so now. They say to change them at one hundred thousand but 50 to 75 thousand is better and you will get better mileage. The fuel filter needs to be changed every 20 thousand miles now days because of all the cheap gas we have to put in the cars.
This is for mechanics or technicians. If no one out there believes me about the mileage on the fuel filter, then take the filter off and see what comes out the back. Looks like black water to me.

I have a car in the shop right now same thing - it is being caused by a misfire. Need a real technition to diagnose the problem (auto zone - advance auto can't diagnose the problem - only read the code)
mine was caused by a failing fuel injector. good luck
