Air ride wont go down in the rear

I am having a problem with the air ride the rear air bags are up all the way and are not releasing the air to come down. the pump is running. i dont know the history of the car only that i just put the motor in the car. other than that i know nothing. i was wondering also if it could be caused by someone lifting the car with out shuting the switch off in the trunk?

First i would look under the rear of the car and you will see a ride sensor with a little arm
this tells the pump when to run either the arm broke came out of adjustment or the sensor is bad.

Air bag pump is running, new airbags . rear bags wont air up.

These Lincoln air suspensions are terrible. I have converted many over to coil springs at a fraction of the cost of replacing/repairing the bags. If the rear bags don't inflate, there is a broken air line to the bags or the bags are leaking

The air ride in my 02 seville wont raise the rear.I hear the compressor kick in when the car is started at least i think its the compressor it's coming from the rear Any idea how to fix it ?

Here's an idea to get you started.
Put the back end of the car up on ramps so you can crawl underneath it.
With the front tires blocked securely, have a helper get into the car and roll down the windows so they can hear you talk from under the car.
Have the parking brake set.
Take a bucket or container of soapy water and a brush, and / or a spray bottle of soapy water, and crawl under to car.
Have the helper start the car, and look and listen for leaks.
I have heard the air bags leak on air ride cars after a few years. The soapy water should show a leak when applied to the air bags and the air lines.

2001 expedition air suspension 2 front air bags work and rear only one works what can it be

The best solution is to replace the air shocks with
the conventional conversions, offered by several
companies

Brand New or Older Navigators or Expeditions are not
worth the expense of diagnosing those systems, time
& time again

Most people like the ride of the conversion

Check all the big shock names on the internet

If you need more, I have auto trade publications I get free
& lots of vendors in there

How do you "manually" bleed the air bags in a 96 Lincoln Cont. ?

Shut off pump switch located in drivers side panel door in trunk. Jack up car at frame and support with jack stands. This will make sure the car does not come down on you when you release the air.
Pop retaining off of solenoid valve located at top of airbag and turn valve to first stop till air starts releasing

the ride control bags are in the rear only. you probably have a leak in 1 of the air lines or the bags are bad.

Stuck in high position

On this model vehicle the rear shockers should have air bags to keep car at normal ride height, when load changes.
The air bag can sometimes become caught between inner and outer tubes of shocker when car is raised and lowered quickly.
You will need to jack car up from tow hitch or frame to lower rear axle, this will unfold air bag, slowly lower car, with ignition on, this will make sure air compressor is filling air bags as they take the load.
Hope this is helpful, MMP

1992 toranado tofeo rear

it sounds like there is a problem with the rear air bags. the air bags are there to help give you a softer ride.
3 spots i would check are the air bags themselves, the air pump located under the hood, or a proprtioning valve
