Question about 1992 Geo Tracker

Fuel injector opperating with engine off and kee in run possition

92 tracker, wondering what could cause the injector to opperate when ignition is in the on possition, it will not start. I havent run any diognistcs yet but would like to get an idea of what might be causing this symptom

I guess you mean the injector ( which one?) is leaking.

8valve

bad o-rings (2x) on injector.
fuel pressure regulator stuck and pressure at 65psi 2 times normal.
bad injectors, stuck open
bad ecu driver transistor.

16v. same as above , but skip o-rings.

say where and how you know it leaks,
what motor, 8v or 16v.

there are 8 motors on this car world wide and 2 in usa.

these kind of behavior generally happens,when the tappets clearance is less than the specified .that means when the engine heats up valves elongates,and the gap reduces,resulting valve leakage,improper combustion,power drop, emission, missing etc....set the tappets

My mercedes c180 1999 broke down, towed home by aa, changed the air flow meter, the car is still chugging, no power at all


If the chocking persistes, I would chech the injectors, or the opperation of the fuel pump and fuel filter.

2004 ford ranger truck has spark and cranks but does not start. Was running then just stops. Have pushed button on inertia switch in cab and starts but then problem returns.


if the inertia switch had to be reset for truck to start and you were not in any accident inertia switch is faulty.... if that isnt the case make sure the fuel pump is opperational....( Turn the ignition on without cranking the motor and listen for the fuel pump (a whirring sound) It should make the sound for about 3 seconds and then shut off this is how it is suppose to opperate....also if not done recently change the fuel filter....

92 geo tracker wont start replaced gas pump fuel injector relays i can soray starter fluid in the carb and it will start right up but wont run


CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE.AND CHECK IGNITION TIMING ALSO SCAN IT TO MAKE PCM IS GOOD.FUEL PUMP WONT TURN ON IF PCM OR ECM FAULTY.

Is it possible that the computer on my 92 geo tracker is what's keeping it from starting???? will the engine turn but no strat????


turn the key to acc mode and if the check engine light is on then the computer is working. check for spark. listen for the fuel pump to turn on its in the back passenger side if both those work and you didnt mess with distributor plugs rotor or cap then you may have to bypass it. or the fuel injector could be clogged. take off the metal air intake to get to the fuel injector and pour a little gas directaly in and see if it starts. if fuel pump spark and pouring gas into were the fuel injector is then it might be a bad fuel injector or it needs to be bypassed.

I have a 92 geo tracker but will not start, i've chance spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, ignition pack, altenator, and the carburator throttle body, why wont it start?


If you look in the engine compartment and on top of the engine you will see a fuel rail which is connected to the fuel injectors and at the end of the rail closest to the front of the engine you will see a bolt head I think about 5/8 or so wrench. Take it loose and turn the ignition key on and off to see if there is any fuel coming from the fuel rail.No need to actually try to start it just turn key on and off to activate the fuel pump. This is easiest with 2 people but you will be able to see if it is wet when you return to the engine compartment. Please just be sure you have no source of fuel ignition such as a hot shop light no smoking and things of the sort. If there is no fuel then your fuel pump is your problem. If there is fuel then look directly down at the crankshaft pulley and see if you see contact of the pulley to the plastic timing cover near the center of the cover if so and there are plastic shavings from the cover then you may have sheared a bolt and key way on the crankshaft causing the timing to be all off. This is a common problem on these trackers.

are these turbo cars and have u taken off the fuel rail to see if they are opperating if they are opperating (you can tell with a node light or just a 12v test light)then most likely its ur fuel control relay under ur center console if they are not opperating and it is a turbo car u should look at ur resister pack (a silver box on the firewall right by the dsm tag) and if they are not opperating and it is turbo ur non (either way) u could be looking at a bad ecu (verry common if they get to hot or to cold

Fuel injectders ,not opening up


1 : If the engine is hard to start when hot, check fuel pressure and check the injector for leaks.

2: If the injector does not operate when the engine that is hard to start is cranked, the following as well
as the injector itself may be responsible.
(1) Faulty power supply circuit to the engine control unit, faulty ground circuit
(2) Faulty MFI relay
(3) Faulty crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor

3. If there is any cylinder whose idle state remains unchanged when the fuel injection of injectors is cut
one after another during idling, make following checks about such cylinder.
(1) Injector and harness check
(2) Ignition plug and high tension cable check
(3) Compression pressure check

4: If the injector harness and individual part checked good but the injector drive time is out of
specification, the following troubles are suspected.
(1) Poor combustion in the cylinder (faulty ignition plug, ignition coil, compression pressure, etc.)
(2) Loose EGR valve seating
(3) High engine resistance
