Van starts, runs for a while, then dies, continues over and over
I can start my van but it soon dies, I crank it and it does the same thing over and over. When I get to running the van dies and will restart it's self sometimes, if not I have to recrank it. I've added fuel additive to remove water. I plan on changing my fuel filter to see if this will help. Could it be any kind of electrical problem?

When was last "healthy tune up" - plugs, wires, ALL fluids & filters including fuel filter? I would start there, makes a good "ground zero" starting point. If problems continue then have OBII scan done (autozone, advance, etc.. good parts stores) will do the fault scans for free. PS: also run a good fuel system cleaner through it.
before u replace any parts u need to have the electronic engine control tested for trouble codes, this is the 1st thing that any shop does to know where to start the repair and diagnosis. Most likely u have a defective crankshaft position sensor, but have the test run..
if your mini van has a 4.3 litre engine v6, when you turn the key on you should be able to hear the electric fuel pump start. the fuel pump is inside the gas tank,if you hear the pump you might want to change the fuel filter. The thing about computerized engines and a throttlebody is that you need a fully charged battery to start work with.
