Could you show me or tell mewhere the transmission filter is located on a 1997 ford contour 2.5ltr. v-6?

You have to drop the transmission pan with gasket to get to the transmission filter. About 5 quarts or so of transmission fluid will come out when you drop the pan. You have to buy a new transmission gasket. Do not reuse the old gasket.

Ford f250 2005 transmission how do you check the fluid and how many quarts do I use?

22's answer as to location is correct. Check the fluid after the vehicle has warmed up and with the engine running. Check your manual for fluid type if any is required (should be type "F"). Do not overfill as it will not help. If fluid is a qt low you ahould check transmission lines going from radiator to the tranny as there is a leak somewhere. Also look around the transmission pan for leaks. Slipping of the transmission is the most obvious indicator of low fluid, stepping on the gas but the transmission doesn't push you faster. Hope this helps. GT

Transmission leaks from plug on bottom of ******, looks about 1 1/2 inches in diameter...what is this plug? 1997 f250 superduty

What might be the problem is that you need a new nylon washer or new plug and washer they are real inexpensive. The problem lies in taking the bolt out all your fluids will escape so make sure you have drain pan that will hold at least 6 quarts of trans oil, another problem might happen when you fix the problem,if you ever heard the saying (Don't touch something that's not broken) because transmission have a tendency to slip after you change the oil. It's a gamble that your going to have to take, hope it works.

How do i flush and change transmisson fluid on 2005 f-150

Make sure you have a BIG pan, drop the trans pan (messy job, start at the front and go around, finally leaving a couple of bolts in front in so the back drops down and drains from there). pull the trans filter off the bottom of the trans-make sure the o-ring comes off with the filter. clean the magnet a the bottom of the pan, reinstall it and the filter after you use lint-free rags to clean the bottom of the trans (valve body). You can usually just reinstall the pan with the original gasket, it is far superior to the junk they give you when you buy a kit with a filter (about $30 for the kit) and gasket. Dont over tighten the bolts, work in a cris-cross pattern until they all snug, then go 1/4 turn. Install a long funnel into the dipstick tube and fill it with about 10-11 quarts of Mercon 5-start it up, and if necessary, you may end up adding 1 or 2 more quarts to get it to levle.

Transmission is slipping

once the tranmission starts slipping that is the end of the useable life for the tranmission, u will need an overhaul, sorry there is no repair other than that for slipping conditions.

remove the transmission oil pan bolts, leave one corner tight untill your ready to lower pan and drain fluid into oil catcher pan, then remove remaining bolts and drop pan,
remove the transmission filter, install new filter, clean inside pan and dry, install new gasket on pan, reinstall pan,put at least 5 quarts in before you start car and shift through gears, return to park, and bring oil to full mark.

1999 F250 only goes in reverse, no forward gears.

I believe that reverse is operated by a brake band. So it seems to be stuck. It is operated by a piston, and the seal could have swelled and caused too much friction. But you could loosen up the adjustor so that it is disengaged, in order to get forward gears again. Perhaps you can force the piston to retract as well, once you drop the pan again.
