Question about 2001 Honda Civic

I have a humming noise in the engine of my 2001 Honda Civic EX.

Its like a winding noise. The faster I drive the louder it is. also when i press the gas in winds up.

Loud hollow wind noise when accelerating

The noise you hearing is the rear end bearings going bad
you should get them replaced as soon as possible
the longer you drive on them the more damage you do
and they could lock up

Winding/grinding noise in the front end, not sure what it is?


get all 4 wheels off the ground,start vehicle,put in drive,with a large bar stop each wheel,itcan tell you which wheel has the issue.I've replaced all 4 hub and bearings,11/2 trs later the rear went again.... buy the best possible..hope that helps !

sounds like a wheel bearing they start to scrape and bind making loud noise while driving only. no noise while in park

it is the noise of this particular engine, if its a little louder than when you first bought it, the engine may need taking to mazda specialist

Winding noise


Is this noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, if so it "sounds" like a rear pinion bearing concern, this would make a winding noise when under a load(accelerating) and disappear at other times. Keep me posted
